Heavenly Bakery — Restaurant in Pearl

We were originally supposed to have our wedding cake done by Campbell’s bakery. They lost their cake decorator and recommended Ms. Juanita. We scheduled our cake tasting 5 months prior to the wedding, and every thing seemed to be going well. I showed Ms. Juanita photos for inspiration, and we decided on the type of cake for the wedding though the requested icing was not one of the flavors she had provided for the tasting.

I checked in with Ms. Juanita many times prior to the wedding. I confirmed that the cake would be how I requested. I did request a brown sugar bourbon buttercream on the wedding cake. I provided the bourbon to the bakery. The wedding cake I received had a traditional buttercream on it. There was no brown sugar or bourbon. This was extremely disappointing as I did not receive the wedding cake I ordered. I do have to say, the cake itself was very moist. It just wasn’t what I asked for.

Ms. Juanita was aware that our cocktail hour started at 5pm, and I wanted the cake there prior to the cocktail hour because it would be visible to guests at that time. She did not arrive with the cake until 5:30pm, which was well after the time the cake needed to be there.

She knew from the beginning that the cake would have fresh flowers on it. Ms. Juanita refused to put the flowers on the cake stating that she didn’t want to be responsible for guests getting poisoned by possible pesticides on the flowers. She brought this issue up prior to the wedding, and I told her the florist could put the flowers on the cake if she had it there at the time the florist was present. Obviously the florist was long gone by the time she arrived with the cake because the ceremony was over and the cocktail hour had started. At the end, the wedding coordinator arranged the flowers.

We also had Ms. Juanita do the cheesecakes for the rehearsal dinner. I was not expecting cheesecake in a tinfoil pie pan. I guess that is my mistake for not clarifying that I wanted actual baked cheesecake.

I wish things would have gone smoothly, but that was not the case. I recommend looking elsewhere to ensure you get the cake as ordered and delivered in time for such an important day...

Let me put it like this...this cake business is doing it right! I asked for almond cake and she had it readily available for me to purchase just like the customer likes it! She keeps slices of different kinds of cakes behind the counter for you to buy, and she does custom cakes! She does it all! The store I went into before this one wanted to charge me $30 for a whole cake When I just wanted one slice of almond cake! I just wanted to taste my wedding cake again for my birthday! Heavenly Bakery is the place to go! Reasonable prices. Very nice lady behind...

Very nice young lady that helped me. The cake gets an A+ for decoration, everyone just loved that! The yellow cake had just a tad bit of a dry taste, but not enough that it wasn't eaten up in two days. (and it was kept in the fridge as instructed) I also must say, the owner's brownies are the BEST I have EVER eaten! 😋(and I shared it, and they agreed also) Don't ever change that recipe. Too bad I don't live closer or I'd be in there every day...
