Title: McGriddles with Onions?!? And Other Misadventures at Arrowhead Travel Plaza
Review:
Ah, the Arrowhead Travel Plaza McDonald's in Pendleton, Oregon—a place where dreams of a quick, tasty breakfast go to die. Stopping by for a McGriddles combo meal with a small Diet Coke seemed like a good idea until reality hit harder than a trucker on a 20-hour haul.
First off, I was in such a rush to satisfy my craving that I left my phone in the car. No phone, no McRewards. No biggie, right? I could live without earning those precious points for once. But then came the pièce de résistance: my McGriddles sandwich. What should have been a delightful blend of sweet and savory was transformed into a culinary abomination. ONIONS on a McGriddles sandwich. Yes, you read that right. Onions. The cardinal sin of breakfast foods. The taste was so bizarre and gross, I briefly considered driving back to show them the atrocity they had committed. Seriously, who puts onions on a McGriddles? It was like someone in the kitchen decided to play a practical joke on the next unsuspecting customer, and I was the unfortunate victim.
Now, let's talk about the truck stop itself. Desperate for a pick-me-up after the onion fiasco, I sought out my favorite energy drink, the Monster Recovery Drink. But alas, it was nowhere to be found. The shelves were devoid of my beloved elixir, as if taunting me in my moment of need. Adding to the charm of the place was an aroma that can only be described as "eau de retirement home." A nostalgic scent if you’re into that sort of thing, but not exactly what I was hoping for on a road trip pit stop.
On the bright side, the bathrooms were clean—mostly. It’s not much, but at least I didn't have to hold my breath or do a balancing act over the toilet seat. Silver linings, I suppose.
So, here it is: 2 stars for the McDonald's experience that included a ghastly surprise in my sandwich and 3 stars for the truck stop that couldn't quench my thirst for Monster Recovery but did manage to keep the bathrooms relatively clean. Arrowhead Travel Plaza, you’ve earned your place in my road...
Read moreCan't cook food right. Foods always messy. Coffees never made correctly. Times always red on screens.
On top of this, drink station is never cleaned correctly. Nozzles are never sanitized correctly. Water shouldn't be red but it is at this place almost every time.
Alot of drama, employees get mad at complaints from customers. Employees like to argue and make excuses rather than taking accountability. Managers eat those mistakes for them.
Does not handle issues brought to attention which is why they lose the good employees they typically have for a short time.
Employees are typically known by management. Most management here are all pretty much friends outside work.
Allows personal relationships between co-workers even if it causes problems or there are issues and drama from it. Atleast 3 relationships within this store alone.
Tea isn't always changed on time. There's a white sticker on the tea lid, it tells you if the tea expires and I've checked it a few times.
Holds grudges against others for years. Fails to see when someone works harder than others. Fails to keep employees who actually strive for perfection. Loses employees who have proven to go further than others.
Lacks ability to accurately analyze situations for what they truly are. Listens to employees and trusts employees who have a lack of integrity. Employees who steal, slack and wreck the relationships of others.
This is not only the most stressful environment to be in but the lack of care makes it that much better.
Doubt it'll change or has ever changed either. Wonder why you have the complaints you do about employment and things getting done correctly? Maybe improve on the hiring abilities. Plenty of good people in this area who you don't even give a chance. You never do.
Pretty typical of the management to have very specific and narrow minded views. An open mindset creates growth and expansion.

Read moreThis particular McDonalds did great in one aspect but failed in another. They got a large offer for a family of 6 correct the first time, no need to harass them to correct it. This is rare!
But the last taking the order interrupted me repeatedly. And I mean that I would get out a "could I get a number 1 with..." and instantly interrupted with clarifying questions. As a previous McDonald's employee I would have been fired for that. But it happened with EVERY. SINGLE. SENTENCE. The order was wrong and I had to correct her six times, each time dealing with interruptions.
I DESPISE BEING INTERRUPTED REPEATEDLY.
We almost left. But stuck it out and got, amazingly, everything that we ordered. I am certain that someone in prep or management was listening, because there is no way that someone who screwed up the meal types on half of the order had much influence on accuracy.
Maybe she was new. Maybe she just had a process on how to enter orders, but the interruptions were plain rude and accomplished nothing in...
