Bella Mia — Restaurant in Penn Forest Township

Bella Mia has been our go to for gluten free while in the Poconos for many years. The gluten free pizza is good and they also offer Penne pasta. Over the past few years they have eliminated their other gluten free offerings unfortunately. The owner mentioned that she is just not able to source the items anymore which is not her fault but definitely disappointing for my kids who always looked forward to eating here. Oddly, they also can no longer do gluten free fries. I thought the fries used to be the same ones, just baked instead of put in the fryer so this surprised me. The girl that told me this seemed unsure though so if you are looking for gluten free fries with your pizza, definitely check with the owner as she is familiar with gluten free. The food was good. The thin crusted pizza and breaded wings were tasty. And the meatballs were also surprisingly good. But sub par customer service will definitely keep me from returning. Overly staffed for the amount of dine-in customers. Several servers were standing around talking as the garbage in the dining room was overflowing. It took longer to get the check after our meal than it did for the food to be prepared and delivered. My children were excited to see a small arcade in the back corner. So while waiting for food, I exchanged a $5 bill for quarters only to find out only two of the games would actually accept a quarter. The two sit down style driving games were dirty and greasy. Chose to rate as tried again after first bad experience hoping for better. First time put mayo on Italian hoagie when I clearly ordered oil only and that was repeated to me when my order was read back. Calzone was pretty good that time. Next ordered the Stromboli which had so little meat that you could actually see the bread ,and they did not put sauce inside as I asked, which again was read back to me to confirm my order.
