Donut-z and More — Restaurant in Penn Forest Township

I usually go to the Bagel Experience in Broadheadsville for my bagels, but I was excited to try this new place that opened up much closer to me.

Positives: The shop was clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They didn't have chive/scallion cream cheese available, but they quickly offered to make it on the spot for me, which I appreciated. The baked goods on display looked delicious, and my experience in the store was very pleasant. I ordered seven bagels, two cheese danishes, and two donuts. I didn’t try the donuts myself, but my kids loved them, and they seemed to be popular with other customers.

Negatives: Unfortunately, the main reason for my visit was the bagels, and they didn't meet my expectations. They tasted like typical grocery store bagels. A good, freshly made bagel shouldn't require toasting, but these definitely did; they had a cardboard-like texture. I’m not sure how they’re made, but they didn’t seem fresh to me—more like they were frozen and then heated up.

As for the cheese danish, it looked great, but the taste was underwhelming. It mostly tasted like bread, and I could barely detect the cheese filling.

I don’t like giving negative reviews, especially for a local business, but the bagels and cheese danishes just weren’t good. I hope they can improve their quality. I may return to try some of their other baked goods, but I can't recommend this place for bagels or...

Sandwiches were good except the undercooked bacon, essentially I paid for bacon that was too chewey and stringy. Wish I would have known so I could have just gotten an egg and cheese and not overpaid. I was not able to request crisp bacon in the special request section. GREAT breakfast sandwiches and donuts, reasonably priced. Very polite young people working the counter and I met the cook / owner, very personable. Been there several times A+. The area needed a place to get fresh chewy delicious bagels. My prayers answered..!
