Hunan House — Restaurant in Penn Forest Township

Not a fan i have been living in the area for 10 years we only go there if my son wants rice. We always drive the extra to go to other restaurants when we are in the mood. The restaurant is dirty, there food is bland, and the wait is long. The staff is fine however but they really don't make good food even compared to the area and that's saying a lot.

Also during Covid they put up a really gross looking large piece of plastic to cover the counter. Its so dingy you cant see the person on the other side. Not a good experience at all. they wont even pay for the proper material, looks like they got it out in there back yard.

I never write reviews but like i said i have been going there on and off for 10 years and after seeing that discussing piece of plastic and dirty lobby enough is enough. There are plenty of decent chinese restaurants around just google them in effort and Blakeslee. Its worth the trip.

The customer service received at this location was wonderful! The owner and his family were super helpful. I ordered 14 different items and since I was splitting with a group, I really needed an itemized list. The owner’s daughter was nice enough to go out of her way to calculate and make the itemized bills with taxes included so I wouldn’t have to worry about dividing and charging others in my group. Also, for such a large order, the food was prepared in exceptionally short time by the owner’s wife and cook! Within 20 minutes, we had received our order, a time span I was astonished by! It’s good, inexpensive, fast, and open late. Service was excellent, and the order over the phone was executed perfectly. Will it win awards for authenticity? No. But when your child says: “More broccoli, please”, the restaurant gets an extra star.

We ordered the large Shrimp with broccoli and the large Shrimp Szechuan style, and both had lots of shrimp and vegetables. For less than $25 three of us had dinner and we didn’t even eat half of one of the containers of rice.
