Carollo's — Restaurant in Pennsauken Township

First, let's get something out of the way first. The server was awesome. I have no fault with our accommodating server. BUT, that server was waiting on 11 tables, eleven...! I counted them. That's not fair to the server and that's not fair to the patrons waiting. We arrived at 7pm, sat down, and waited... and waited. Finally at 7:30 the server took our beverage order. Then another 25 minutes passed before the server took our dinner requests. This was for 6 people. Then we waited some more for the dinners to arrive. When they finally came out, they came dribbling out one at a time. I sat there with my cheese steak hoagie in front of me getting cold while waiting for the other entrees to arrive. It was terrible! I finally gave up and started eating. About 10 minutes passed before all 6 of us had our dinners. The entire time we were there, the kitchen, which is quite visible at Carollo's, sounded like there was major construction taking place. It seemed like once a minute, there was a loud metallic BANG! like a .22 caliber nail anchor gun going off. What the hell...!! BANG!... I finally took a look at where and what was causing the noise. BANG!! It was the doors to the pizza ovens being open and slammed shut. I mean, you have patrons out in the dinning room and the help is slamming the door shut! We've been going to Carollo's for decades.... decades. But it has changed in recent years, and we feel that change hasn't been for the good. New servers, new owners? I don't know. Tonight though wasn't good at all, and unfortunately it probably closed out our years patronizing Carollo's. All the linen table cloths and cloth napkins in the world aren't going to hide these...

Been eating from this place since I was first able to eat solid food (I grew up down the street) and it’s unfortunately gone downhill since around the pandemic. I believe someone may have left, as for a couple years the food would be hit or miss depending on the day. For the past year every time I ordered was a miss.

specifics:

1: pizza is consistently way too soft / doughy compared to how it was before.

2: frequently the seasoning is done clearly without care, my most recent pizza order had whole cloves of garlic (whole cloves!!!) and the sauce was sweeter than Lunchables pizza sauce.

3: employees frequently have hit or miss attitudes. One employee in particular used to be very rude but, now it just seems like many of them are just trying to get through their shift. I don’t appreciate the fella who vapes constantly.

I know this review is incredibly harsh but, I really want this place to do well, it was at one point my go to restaurant. I can also speak as someone, that used to fulfill supply orders for this place through US Foods, that they use quality ingredients and always have. Mainly I think they just need to work on their consistency, and maybe pay somebody a couple more bucks or something. It’s a nice, clean, affordable restaurant I’d put up against anywhere on its best days.

I would definitely update this review to be singing praises if I observed real...

We have been eating here for a long time. Recently, every time we get delivery something is wrong, missing, or cold. They are notorious for putting food on top of your pizza and smushing the cheese to the top of the box. I usually just let it slide. Today I paid 35$ for two salads. When they came there was no dressing. I called back and the solution was waiting for the delivery driver to finish his two deliveries then go back get my dressings and wait. The chicken on my salad was already cold when it arrived, now I have to wait another 40 minutes for my dressing. I told them no thank you and the second option was crediting my account for two dressings...THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR! Thanks for the 4$.

I asked if I could just be credited for one salad, but that wasn't an option. I was given to the manager who was very nice. She would not offer me a refund, but offered to bring me hot chicken and the dressing herself. I thought "sure that seems fair". While I was waiting and eating my dry salad I found a hair. Strike 2. She got here quick and was still very nice. I ordered a house dressing and a thousand island dressing. We received two thousand islands. Strike 3. We order from Carollos almost weekly. They will no longer receive...
