Wife and I had our last Armettas trip this evening. Was trying to remember the last time we ate in and had an issue with the check and they didn't do anything to work with us. Although being on the expensive side(pizza and Caesar salads-for takeout), this was our go-to place for pizza in Emmaus. Tonight we go for eat in as we were just looking for a good meal. I order the penne with sausage and wife ordered the chicken parm with tortellini. The latter is confusing as it's not very clear on the menu that tortellini is an upcharge of $3.00. Then there's the side salads. Menu states that a side salad can be added for an additional $2.50. Most restaurants have add ons of either house or Caesar salads. Nowhere did it mention that the add on option is only a house salad. We were surprised that we were charged $12.00 for two full sized Caesar salads. Why the heck would we want a full sized salad when we're ordering full-sized entrees. Both of us are in good shape. All in all, two entrees and two salads came to $46 before a small coupon that we used. As with the last time we had a question with the check, the staff just apologized and did nothing about our concerns about pricing and confusion with the menu. We're done...
Read moreThis is my rating for take out and delivery. I agree with the person who commented not to use it (unless different people work the phones.) My husband and I eat at Armettas frequently. We like it and would rate the dine in and bar a 5. Today I called in an order at 4:30 because I wanted it around 5:00 to provide dinner for someone else as well. I was told I could get it delivered. I gave my address and explained how to get here. I called an hour later and she asked for my name and phone number and said "oh you want it delivered? It's in the system as pickup." I said "well at this point I could just come pick it up." She assured me they would be on their way. 20 minutes later I called back wondering if they had gotten lost. She asked again for my phone number and address and said they could leave right then. At that point I went and picked it up. It was mushy and cold since it had been called in an hour and a half earlier. I asked to talk to the manager and she said he was too busy. I will not be doing takeout or delivery again but would encourage everyone to dine in or go to the bar where the service with a smile is excellent in both...
Read moreJust walked out of Armetta's in Emmaus. Apparently, they didn’t want our money. We walked in as a family of 5—it was our first time, so we weren’t sure where to wait. The guy at the front was on the phone taking an order, and a lady was serving upstairs. She looked right at us several times—no smile, no “I’ll be right with you,” nothing. When the guy got off the phone, I expected him to ask if we needed a table, but instead he just turned and walked to the back. The lady walked past us several times without a single word. Finally, a young woman from the lower level came over, greeted us kindly, and asked us to give her a minute. She went to speak to the other woman—who looked visibly annoyed—and then came back to say the lady would seat us shortly. So we moved upstairs to wait, thinking she’d help us soon. She continued walking by, still completely ignoring us. At that point, we left.
I always hear about how small businesses operate on thin margins and how we should support local—but this kind of experience makes it really hard to do that. If your staff doesn’t want to engage with people, it’s a problem—especially in a business...
