I have NEVER posted a review in my life. I understand things change, but wow was I disappointed with Cub’s today! First, upon entering, we noticed it was no longer a service restaurant but order at the counter..no big deal…As we walked toward the register to order at the counter the woman was extremely unfriendly and not pleasant based on her mannerism and lack of greeting... Her “greeting” was, ‘Do you know what you want?’ Not can I help you? We literally had just walked in and hadn’t even an opportunity to look at a menu to see what we wanted..At the counter there were 2-paper menus and my wife took one. I realized when I tried to take the other menu off the counter, the menu was taped..I couldn’t read it due to it being taped on the counter so I said the menu is taped and I can’t see it- didn’t have my reading glasses..You would think she would offer another menu.. nope - she just looked at me. So my wife looked back at me and handed me the menu so I could figure out what I wanted..Very uncomfortable and awkward..We both ordered the royal red boats, which had gone from like $18 to now $30 each. I understand inflation but wow..$30 is expensive esp with ordering at the counter..the bill totaled about $64 for the two of us and this was just LUNCH for two people. The lady flipped the iPad so my wife could pay and it asks for a tip..She tipped 10% - so a total of $70 for lunch..We are not cheap at all..We went to Grand Marlin last week so money isn’t the issue..btw my wife worked in service at a high end restaurant in Destin all last season..and FYI my wife tips WAY too generously imo..Our college aged son is also a server on Pensacola Beach ..
Our food arrived and the royal reds were soft & smooshie. Based on the increased price I’d expect them to at least be cooked correctly. At no time did anyone ever come by the table except to drop off the food.. but I get its a fun place- so no big deal if everything else was ok.. to ..
Here one of the problems- Cub’s now asks for the tip at the time of purchase. A tip is for service rendered. We ordered our food at the counter, had to get our own plastic ware , hot sauce, seasoning and drinks. A food runner brought us our plates & we are asked to bus our table at the end, but a tip up-front - for what? We have been going to Cub’s for a few years and it was one of our favorite places to eat whenever we had errands in P-cola or to take friends who were visiting us on vacation to experience some southern food and Southern hospitality.. .. Not anymore, today was our last visit. Poor service, bad attitude employee & food was extremely disappointing for the price. FYI- the food runner wasn’t rude- she just dropped off food and left..
We had mediocre to poor Cajun/southern food and NO Southern...

And we don’t need to review a place we haven’t been to in a while. I found this very offensive and I can’t believe the sheer disrespect from an owner based on the experience we had at her restaurant! We will never give our business to such a rude person again! Your customers’ experiences SHOULD matter.
service here is hit or miss. The first time I went, they were out of crawfish 1.5 hours before they were supposed to close. I gave them the benefit of the doubt at the time but the second time I went ticked me off. The waitress took almost 45 minutes to get our drink and take our order. Then she forgot my wife's meal. We reordered it and she didn't ring it up a second time! We then ordered banana pudding but the waitress never came back. I finally was able to flag her down and ask for the check. She never came back. We waited and waited for another half hour with no food or drinks because she had already cleaned off our table. A crowd was collecting at the front door waiting for a table so after waiting a half hour for our check, we decided to get up so other people could sit down to eat. Eventually I saw the waitress at the register so I walked up to remind her about the check. She asked me to hold on and I waited for another 5 or so minutes for her to finish up before reminding her of the check. We finally got it and the banana pudding I ordered was on the check but she never gave it to me. I made her revise the check and then I paid and left. Total lunch trip took 3 hours and we left unsatisfied. Haven't been back since. Good is good but this day just put me over the edge. I've been taking my business to Louisiana Lunchbox ever since. Much better service over there. What a disappointment from my initial thoughts on this place!
Wow! What a bargain! I had delicious gumbo, crawfish etouffee, banana pudding, and a coke for $15! Good service and nice restaurant. I just moved here and I will definitely be coming here regularly! Seriously a must-try place for any...

I ordered two pounds of crawfish and a potato with a side of Cub sauce and butter to dip. The cub sauce was a spicy mayo/ketchup mixture and was good. The butter was similar to a movie theater oil base - meh.
The crawfish were delivered quickly on a tray. Immediately I could tell that they were extremely muddy and gritty and had not been adequately rinsed or cleaned. This was unfortunate because it prevented me from being able to suck the bodies and really experience the flavor. The waitress checked in on me shortly after my order was delivered and asked if I was enjoying them. I asked her if they clean and wash their crawfish and she said that they do purge them. I explained to her that mine were really dirty she apologized and said she’d let the kitchen know and suggested maybe it was just the seasoning. I further explained and showed her that it was not “seasoning” and showed her the mud. I didn’t make a fuss but I would have appreciated if she would have offered to replace with a fresh batch since I was visibly not satisfied with my meal so much to the point that I discarded the majority.
I appreciated the hand washing station and really enjoyed the Cub Scrub bucket that had a divine hand scrub to wash my hands with afterwards.
Based on the prior reviews, the ambiance and vibe, I’d like to think that my experience with the crawfish may have been a one off. I’d possibly consider giving them another shot but the crawfish during my visit were not very...
