I drove up from Shiloh, IL to celebrate it was SUPPOSED TO BE a JOYOUS celebration!! We came with a fairly large group of family members. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving things took a very interesting turn.
The waitress was seemingly irritated- about what exactly - your guess is as good as mine! When a comment was made about the dirty glassware- her reply was totally indifferent, rife with annoyance and had the audactity to then retort to say that all of their glasses look like that. So we were just supposed to drink from seemingly dirty glasses- not spotty, dirty. I actually refused to drink my water because there was something floating in my glass. After seeing how she replied to one of the other guests- i just chose to not drink.
The appetizers and cocktails were Ok at best. The recommended dish by the waitress was absolutely bland, and not cooked properly. Most dishes went uneaten, because at first glance they looked nice, however, the food was WARM at best, BLAND, massively under-seasoned and even un-edible. When cooked properly short ribs should fall off the bone, not requiring the diner to use an actual steak knife. It was the equivalent to eating braised leather!! FYI-adding raw thyme as a garnish to dress a dish up is also a CRIME! Blah!! The truffle Mac and cheese was absolutely disgusting and i could seriously go on and on about every single dish. No one left satisfied. My sister chose to politely make the waitress aware of our overall dissatisfaction and I sat there and watched as she inspected all of the barely touched plates. She agreed the meat was over cooked in some instances and not cooked properly in others.
My sister paid a $600 bill and let's not forget the 20% automatic gratuity- which was NOT DESERVED in any form or fashion, and yet no apology or solution was offered.
Then as we were quietly leaving as the proverbial flame on the candle on the icing on the cake....some random man who worked there, walked over to my YOUNG DAUGHTER and proceeded to put his hand on my child- WHISPERING something to her RIGHT IN FRONT OF ALL OF US. Instead of acknowledging and/or addressing the adults in the group he decides that his actions were appropriate. Instead of any of the adults choosing to make a scene- we chose to speak to her because she was visibly upset by this encounter. The fact that I even have to add this aspect to this food review is reprehensible! Totally inappropriate and unacceptable! An adult man should never touch someone else's daughter. We contemplated speaking with the manager at that point but ultimately none of the adults wanted to make a scene which would then ruin the evening entirely for us.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! Stay away unless you want bland unseasoned food, horrible service and some random man touching your child as you...
Read moreNot impressed at all. Manager needs to amend things otherwise I will recommend to NOT go here to all of my associates located in the business world in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Colorado.
Our waitress brought out an incorrect order. Instead of fixing it, the waitress wasted time trying to figure out whose order was the second order of a gluten free bun burger. Instead of remaking the order, they told her she "had to eat it because someone had to have ordered it" even though our wedding party was three full long tables, generating hundreds of dollars in business in a single time frame.
I spoke to the manager and he said he would talk to the kitchen to see what he could do. They brought out a meal for her to eat later.
So not only did she not get to eat with her family on the night before their son's wedding, she gets a free (after it is heated and flavor is erased after warming it up in a microwave.)
Awful service. Mediocre food that is just as unhealthy and not as good as Culver' s. DO NOT GO HERE. After the "resolution," that was made, I do not think the waitress or manager apologized once and the manager did not come by the table.
What a pathetic establishment. What a poor excuse for service. I managed a 5 million dollar CVS store in Des Moines, and one thing I learned is that good customer service is necessary to live in a world where you can get food delivered to your door.
What an awful experience. I will not be going back unless there is any sort of reconciliation for this trip. Many people WILL NOT be back. I got my family to stop purchasing Barilla products since the owner donates to anti-gay corporations and political figures.
I have an influence, thankfully- so please reconcile this.
Also, as a different waitress just now as I was writing this, came around, clearly was looking at my phone screen and then went to her other waitress friend.
The time was from 6:30 to 9 PM that I was there. And it really was nothing more special than dairy queen. Which would have easily been a better dinner than these, even though I'm lactose intolerant. That is how not tastful the food was. Maybe it was it because it got cold so quick trying to chase down a waitress who could handle "making it right" in a situation. And this was a total wrong.
Hundreds of dollars to your establishment, and this is how we are treated? We are told to "just eat it."
So kind, so hospitable and accommodating. (Sarcasm.)
Here is picture of my meh-meal. Meaning it was not special at all. Or good. Great idea but needs...
Read moreAs many others have stated, the food is great however the service is absolutely horrible. I have been to Cyd’s three separate times and each time the service left me extremely dissatisfied. My first visit was with two girlfriends for a late lunch. We were one of three parties in the entire restaurant and had to wait over 20 minutes before our waitress arrived to even give us water or silverware. During our lunch she went on break for 30 minutes before even taking our food order. We finally flagged down another waitress and asked for her to take our order. The second instance we only waited 15 minutes before we were tended to, however by that time both of the meals we wanted to order had been sold out. Once again, the restaurant was not too busy but the hostess acted as if we were inconveniencing her by wanting to give them our business. Last night was the final straw. The restaurant was the busiest I’ve ever seen it, but I feel as if the management should anticipate a larger crowd for weekends so that they aren’t understaffed. The hostess once again gave attitude the minute we walked in the door. She overheard that we wanted to sit outside and rolled her eyes while informing us there were no outside seating available unless we wanted to do the self-serve option and sit at the picnic tables. She scoffed as we chose to sit inside, reluctantly seated us, gave us menus, and went back to chatting with the female bartender behind the bar. We then were seated at a table in front of the bar and waited 36 minutes before I finally got up to ask the male bartender for some water. Even the bartender ignored me at first and had it not been for the couple next to me that directed him my way (and even made comments of how we were seated before them but yet they had their drinks and placed their food order already). He made me feel as if I was in the wrong asking for waters and a waitress and insisted that we must not have seen the host before being seated. Eventually he left to get a waitress and I returned to my table as she walked up. Instead of apologizing for not even making contact with us, she instead said “as you can see we are very busy” and then asked for our drink orders. The food is amazing and delicious, but I refuse to pay to...
