8 of us went on Sunday early evening. We were the only customers there until one other table of young men came and sat in the bar later. Our waitress was clearly higher than a kite and very slow service. She was wearing a scarf that almost reached her ankles (very inappropriate for serving food) and she appeared quite a mess and unprofessional. Drinks and salsa came out fast enough. Classic margarita was very different—good but would have preferred traditional taste. We waited a very long time (about an hour) for our food and it came out very cold. Waitress didn’t offer refills on sodas, explanation or any other attention for a long time. I had to find her for more chips and ask about our order. Food was so cold the cheese on the beans didn’t even melt and there was no steam off of anything. Even the plates were completely cold. When I told the waitress ALL our food was cold, she literally turned around and left quickly without saying a word. After waiting at least 15 minutes with no return, I finally got up and saw her through the door window huddled in the kitchen with 3 cooks. I opened the door and they all jumped and hid something. The waitress came over and I asked her what’s going on here? I asked for the manager or owner. She told me they were at a party. I told her it was clear she was high and she ran off once again. One of the cooks tried to defend that the food came off the grill hot. I told him they must have let it sit a long time cause it was cold. It’s like the dishes were made one at a time instead of timing them all together. Then I found the waitress taking an order on the phone. When she got off I asked her what are we going to do about this problem? Told her I had no intention on paying for cold food. She wouldn’t look me in the eye and said that we were a large group and she’s the only one there. I thought that was ridiculous considering we were her only table in the entire place. I’ve worked in busy restaurants myself and this was about as slow as it gets. The flavor of the carnitas burrito was different, interesting and pretty good. But the cold temp made it hard to enjoy. Tamales were extremely dry. My sons cheese quesadillas with steak in side were good, steak was tender and well seasoned. She never brought his sour cream that came with it, even though I mentioned it. Salsa was ok but watery, hotter salsa was good. In the end, she gave one of the couples a completely free meal (unknown to me, he had also gone and complained too). My family meal was reduced to $30 and others paid full price cause they didn’t say anything. One think for sure…we all agreed we weren’t coming back. We’re going back to our usual Sunday dinner...
Read moreI'm not one to complain very often about service but this evening's dinner was so awful that I have to say something.
We arrived around 8:40pm for dinner and the place was nowhere near busy. We waited longer than normal to be greeted which should have been a sign of things to come. After finally getting seated, we were waited on by Paula (I know this only by the receipt as she didn't really introduce herself). I can't say that she was overly friendly at first glance but things just went downhill from there. Our food was brought quickly and was tasty but unfortunately after Paula served us our food, she basically disappeared. She didn't bother to ask if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything else (we actually wanted more chips that we never got for the guacamole we ordered). I'm glad we were given large glasses of water because we weren't offered any refills either. After finishing our entrees, I was also interested in dessert but again, since our server never returned I gave up on ordering anything else and just basically wanted to leave. After looking around for the disappearing waitress, I ended up having to flag down another worker asking them to find her so that we could just get the bill. After waiting even longer for the bill, she brought out a ticket that left off the guacamole that we ordered. My first reaction was to not say anything as we didn't have a pleasant experience anyway as we ended up putting the guacamole on our tacos due to no chips or service. After taking my credit card away, she brought back a different bill, without saying a word to me, that included the guacamole. She said thank you but it didn't feel sincere and that she really didn't want to be there or something else - who knows. Honestly, Asian Grill and Childer's were both closed so this place was our third choice otherwise we may not have stopped there. Given the poor service that we received, I'm sorry...
Read moreIt was two of us, and we got sat in a dark corner right next to the kitchen and a lady with a baby. My friend suggested we moved to the bar and everything got much better. I appreciate all the work that goes into craft cocktails but $12 was Pretty pricey. I got a fish chimichanga (I realize that sounds insane) and honestly it was really good. Not very generous portions with the rice and beans, came with the smallest little dollop of guacamole, some sour cream and lettuce. I didn’t realize that the chimichanga only was going to have protein and cheese inside so I should’ve save some rice and beans to put on the entrée but they were small and I was hungry. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch, but the price was very reflective of the location. The food was very bland compared to most other Mexican food, it did not have much Mexican seasoning or anything that tasted like spice in the salsa or in any of the other ingredients, and I tried my friends Side of vegetables which tasted good but didn’t match his entree of mole pork.
TLDR; if you can afford the surrounding restaurants, and you want decent Mexican food that is not spicy, this is a good place to eat lunch but...
