Tavern On Prospect — Restaurant in Peoria

A group of 5 of us visited Tavern on Prospect on 9/20/20. We were the only people there at that time. We were there to watch football and enjoy some drinks on a Sunday. The bartender was tentative and friendly. We enjoyed him, and he made us want to stay. We were there approximately 4 hours, and would have loved to stay longer. Unfortunately, our visit was cut short due to the owner coming in and screaming at the bartender. He came in the door and screamed from the door, "PUT YOUR MASK ON!" he left right after screaming. This made us extremely uncomfortable, and left an awkward atmosphere. The bartender complied, and put his mask on. He was still very friendly and upbeat. Shortly after, the owner came in again, but without a facial covering. He walked behind the bar and was not maintaining social distancing guidelines. He was touching and standing near glassware, bottles, food prep areas, etc. We asked why he was not wearing a facial covering. He very rudely replied, "I am the owner, I do not have to." You would assume if you are going scream at your employee to wear one, you would wear one as well.. This is also currently mandated in the state of Illinois. He was not leading by example. He proceeded to tell us that this is private property, and he does not have to or want to wear one. He did not seem to care that he was being rude to his only customers. We were very open to giving him plenty of business, and would have gladly stayed if he offered an apology or complied with wearing a facial covering. He instead was rude and disrespectful. He told the bartender to tab us out and make us leave. We made sure to take very good care of the bartender, but unfortunately we will not be back there to visit that establishment anymore. Vibe tonight 11/3 and on 10/29 was horrible. The bartender Virginia was great but the clientele was sketchy. I do not know anyone nor do they know me. Not wanting trouble I left. after a few things were said to me by a guy walking to the restroom so I left and went to another bar while I was trying to enjoy myself in walks s guy from the bar I left he say this I were you went we were looking for you then a threat was made to me and he went back to the tavern on prospect unfortunately I don't enjoy myself and have decided that i won't return. Its was no fun especially to be followed to a different bar by a person I don't know or he even know me. Once again I can't fault the bar tender I just left instead of letting...

If your not a local don’t come💯💯the young lady whom work Tuesday is very secretive, she only treats her regularly good she is young & think because the bar no her she can talk to people any kind of way💯💯💯she never do this to locals whom tip her $100 gifts she brag on how her customers & boy friends buy her jewelry etc yet treat visitors like trash….
