For me and my friends first time coming here with no knowledge of what any of these items are (except for the Vijayawada Chicken biryani my friend knew), we were glad that we decided to try this place out. The prices are pretty good for how much food you get and there is a variety of things to try. You can choose the spice level for your food which is pretty nice if you enjoy spicy food. The Vijayawada Chicken biryani was not only pretty good but also had a unique taste (in a good way). This was my first time trying any sort of Indian food so I did not know what to expect. I don't know what the white sauce is that comes with this dish but it tasted really good when you mix it into the dish.

The place literally just opened up (as of today) so don't expect everything to be ready. The inside obviously is bare bones but I'm sure they have plans for how they're going to decorate everything. The menu is a menu but you'll either have to look up the food items they have ahead of time or just ask someone there to describe the item you're interested in. They didn't seem to have many drink options when we were there (again they just opened and we came there around 6:30-7pm so they could've ran out of ingredients) but they at least had Coke, Diet Coke, and water. The people there seemed nice but don't give them a hard time, especially since again the place just opened.

Me and my friend will be coming back to try more things and hopefully see this place grow...

So, so good! I'm a Bradley student and I love Indian food but don't have a car, so getting it has always been a challenge. I had been meaning to stop by Rice and Spice since it opened, but had been busy (and broke), and finally got the opportunity to this week. I'm so, so happy I did.

First off: the atmosphere is lovely. It has beautiful walls, lighting, and plants, and it's very homey. The service is great, too; the young man working around 11:30 AM on Tuesday was amazing! He was extremely kind, attentive, and gave my boyfriend and I recommendations. There were plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, which was great to see. We ordered samosa chaat and bullet (chili) naan to share, while I ordered aloo palak, and he ordered egg fried rice.

And, the food? Amazing. 10/10. Not only were the dishes themselves beautiful (my messy photo does not do them justice), but they were delicious and bursting with flavor. You could tell everything was fresh and made with care. We both got the "spicy" level, which was good, but I definitely think they should offer an extra spicy offer since it tasted and felt pretty mild. The prices are also more than reasonable, especially for the massive portion sizes.

My only complaint is that they don't have a website where you can see their menu online, as well as not having an option to pre-order for pickup online. Still, everything about Rice and Spice is amazing, and I'll be recommending it to...

🌟 Spice and Rice Review Date of Visit: 13 October 2024

🗺️ Location & Accessibility Campus town, near Bradley University

🍽️ Food Quality & Menu This is a fantastic Indian restaurant worth visiting. Simple menu with many Indian dishes that are worth trying out.

Portion Size: The portions were enough to leave me feeling full and satisfied.

Pricing: Price feels a tad expensive for the amount of food you get.

🤖 Service Quality Service was great! You order at your table, pay at the table.

Wait Time: Food is cooked fresh and if you ordered a hot meal it will be hot, but not so hot you have to wait for it to cool down. Expect a few minutes depending on how busy it is, but every time I visit, its reasonably quick.

Friendly Staff: The staff was welcoming, helpful, and quick to assist.

🛋️ Ambience & Environment Very nice, open atmosphere, and not super crammed or close to other tables.

Simple Decor without feeling out dated.

🧼🧹 Is it clean? Restaurant: Overall very clean Tables: Clean tables, when busy might get slightly behind on clearing tables. Restrooms: Overall clean, doesn't impact my feel about the restaurant, could use some more attention.

📝 Recommendation Would I Recommend?: YES, the food has plenty of flavor (I had the goat curry, spicy.) Came with white long grain rice and garlic non. The picture is of the Goat biriani rice.

💡 Important Tips Payment: All...

I've been here twice now. Great food and very pleasant and hard-working serving staff. Ritik was exceptional with his service this most recent visit. Tip your servers.. which leads to my next note -- Tip IN CASH!! -- I have heard multiple times from multiple people that the owners/management keep a portion of the credit card tips for themselves after splitting with the other staff. This is actually federally ILLEGAL and this policy needs to be addressed, investigated, and changed. Owners and management CANNOT take money from a tip pool (cash or credit). Point blank period. And yes, it is legal to pool the tips and split amongst the EMPLOYEES, but if management or ownership is taking any part of that money that is a violation of the law, according to the Department of Labor.
