Had to seat myself, serve myself water. Young lady had the sack to tell us we should have made a reservation. Then I was served 2 of the worst cappuccinos I’ve ever seen in my life. The Morris county jail commissary offers packets of instant cappuccino at .70 cents a packet that are better than this. Utensils which I had to ask for were dirty. The food was disgusting. They served the person I came with and told me my waffle would be right out. I had seen a review which stated the best waffle they had ever had in their life so I was patient. 20 minutes later I was told the waffle machine just broke. I had already paid for my food before I sat. Strange was for a pastry shop to moonlight as a restaurant but hey. I went with the pancakes. The rawest doughiest mush showed up another ten minutes later which I wouldn’t even dare put in my mouth. I hands down have to say this was the worst dining experience I have ever had in my entire 44 years on this earth. I was refunded the 13 dollars for the pancakes but not the rest of the bill and the 2 cups of foam I recieved. I read all the reviews and realized that these are friends of the establishment leaving 5 star reviews. This is why I never trust ratings. They...
Read moreI went on Labor Day and they were busy but I was still unhappy with my experience here. Firstly, I got "tea for 2". Without paying much attention to the price (definitely my fault), because how much should tea and sandwich halves cost anyway. $75 is what it cost. $75 for tea, 4 sandwich halves, a slice of quiche and soup.
The quiche came out refrigerator cold and my tea came out luke warm. This is a tea place...they should be able to get this right, like there should be real expertise in making sure the water is the right temperature.
Furthermore, the sugar came with a sugary gunked up spoon...like other people were using the same sugar spoon. I'm not sure this is even sanitary, no guarantee that the last person didn't add sugar, taste their tea, then add more with the same spoon...only for that spoon to now end up in my tea. 🤮
It was a cute place, nice atmosphere, but way overpriced and they missed the mark too many times for me to give it a good review or want to return.
Instead of apologizing and saying "it's labor day and we weren't expecting a crowd", try to make it...
Read moreThis place has the absolute best baked goods I've had in years. I've been celiac for ~4 years now, and I've tried many gluten free bakeries since then. Anyone who eats strictly GF knows a huge issue with baked goods is the dry, crumbly texture. I genuinely just accepted I would never have good cake again, but I came here randomly one day and had a chocolate cupcake that was so good, I would have had no idea it was GF (and I always hate when people say that because it's usually untrue). I even double checked with the kid at the register. Since then I've had the lemon bars, scones, brownies, cookies, and more. The best thing I ever had here was a red velvet muffin (and I'm not even a red velvet person) - super moist and delicious. The people who work here are always extremely friendly and helpful, and I super appreciate that they take allergies very seriously and have things labeled. My non-celiac spouse has really enjoyed the food too. I dont live super close but I try to make it here at least once a week as a...
