I travel all the way from Scotland just to visit this store!
My very first experience in this store was nothing short of welcoming. Jackie and James make you feel so welcomed and treat you like an old friend from the get go with their witty banter and good conversation, which had me and my girlfriend become regulars quite quickly after some bad experiences at other stores. We have now been regulars for around 5 months (and will be for life!).
The hobby is in a bit of a rough spot right now with scalpers, but what makes it better is having a card store that is passionate about what they do and for other people who are in it for all the right reasons, and Maximus really does tick all the boxes.
Back home in Scotland, there is no card store that matches what Maximus does for its customers. Thatās why Iām always super excited to stop by when I do swing over to NJ, and keep any cards I pull or acquire for trade for them, and try to match up my dates with trade night (because who doesnāt love free food, raffles and making new friends?!).
Another reason why I respect and love what they do is that they DO sell for MSRP on release to ensure that their regulars (and new customers!) get product at fair prices, rather than us having to line the pockets of the greedy and unemployed that throw hands in Costco and PopMart for some shiny cardboard and labubus.
Anyway, visit Maximus. You wonāt regret it! Shoutout to the entire team that make Maximus a family rather than just a simple card store, and Iām so blessed to be a part of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming to Maximus Collectibles for about two years now, and itās genuinely one of my favorite places to stop by. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are down to earth, and the experience always feels personal rather than just another retail interaction.
Their singles selection is solid and fairly priced. I usually find myself digging through binders, cases, and containers longer than I planned to because thereās always something interesting to check out. Trade-in values are also better than what Iāve seen at most other stores, and their sealed product variety keeps things fresh each time I visit.
One thing I really respect is that they keep things as fair as possible, especially with how wild the TCG market has been lately. The hype has made things harder for everyone, especially local shops that are often paying close to MSRP just to get inventory. Even with all that, Maximus still honors MSRP on release days, which says a lot about how they operate. It shows a level of integrity that I personally appreciate.
James and Jackie have both been great to me. I donāt know them on a personal level, but theyāve always been honest and straightforward in every interaction Iāve had. That kind of consistency makes a difference, and itās one of the reasons I keep coming back.
If youāre someone who genuinely enjoys the hobby and appreciates a shop that keeps things fair and real, Maximus is worth visiting. Every time Iāve walked in, Iāve left feeling good about...

I have just started getting back into the Pokemon TCG. I researched places near where I lived, and saw this place. Thinking that this was an affordable and nice place to go to, to get back into the hobby, I thought it would be a friendly and fair shop. However, when looking into the prices and the layout of the shop/cards; everything was so overpriced. They only care for themselves with the prices of this hobby.
THEY ARE IN IT FOR THE MONEY AND NOT THE COMMUNITY!
I am 100% sure, after doing some quick research, they do NOT have the community in mind; and take scalping into their own hands. These people are SCALPERS. I have since been to many other card shops and the others DO NOT have these ABSURD prices. I understand that these shops cannot sell at MSRP, because they need to make some sort of cash to help w/ the shop and employees, sure... But these are SCALPER PRICES.
40$ for 20$ poster collection? 150$ for an ETB? When they go for $65? 190$ for a Blooming Waters when they go for $70?
You will not catch me again at this place, and I hope you do not go either.
I have even tried trading for SEALED PRODUCT, and they have screwed me and my girlfriend with price AT LESS THAN true value. We have tried getting a few singles for ~$90; and wanted to trade in $130 product; and we still had to pay them? WHAT?
HORRIBLE FOR THE COMMUNITY. IN IT FOR THE MONEY.
BAD PLACE ENTIRELY. Go take your money to a better place...
