Golden China Restaurant — Restaurant in Pequannock Township

I have been ordering from the Golden China restaurant for a few weeks now. Today when we got our order we noticed they tacked on a $2 delivery fee without mentioning it at all to us or putting it on the menu.

I called them and politely asked about it. They told me to hold on and I heard them talking behind my back saying how I was "yelling" at them. Finally the manager answers and gives me all kinds of excuses, saying other restaurants do the same thing and that they were talking about the delivery driver and not me.

Delivery fees are fine. But telling a customer one total and then charging them a different total is fraud. I was just asking to be informed of all the fees before getting charged. They went back to the excuse of "other restaurants do it too". I explained that just because other restaurants committed fraud doesn't mean it's ok for you to. Then I hung up.

As I mentioned I don't mind paying for service. But I want to be informed about what I'm paying for. I don't like being on the receiving end of "a fast one" or getting lied to. Honesty goes a long way. If they're willing to steal $2 then who knows what they're willing to do later on. I'm glad I pay with a one time use credit...

After ordering from this place for almost 30 years, they treated me like dirt today. They messed up my party order, refused to correct it, and screamed at me when I asked it to be made right. Lynn never would have let this happen, or refused to correct her error. I am insulted, upset, and generally finished with this place. The fried rice sucks anyway and the quality of everything else has gone straight downhill.

Instead of thanking me for feeding their families for decades, they treated me with zero respect or customer service.

Keep it up. I will be telling everyone I know to stay away...

I took off one star because the listing is not clear. It's not really a "sit-down" restaurant. This is largely a Chinese take-out with three or four tables to sit at. We noticed that most people ordered by telephone, then came in and picked up their order, or they came in, ordered what they ordered at the counter, then waited for their order to be filled, and then took it "to-go".
