Pizza Man Trattoria Italiano — Restaurant in Pequannock Township

Fortunately, we won a gift certificate from a local town sports team fundraiser for this restaurant. Somehow, we had a kid-free night, and my wife suggested a date night, which we could use the gift certificate for. At first, the name threw me off, as I thought the establishment was more of a take-out place. We looked at the menu online and decided to give it a try. Long story short, the restaurant has been around for many years, but it has been under new ownership for the last year. The staff was excellent, and it was clear that the business was family-owned and operated, as they took pride in their service. There are approximately 12 tables, and they offer glassware for BYOB. So, bring your wine and enjoy. The food was prepared with a lot of flavor and high-quality ingredients. The staff was beneficial with suggestions for new customers. The breaded artichoke hearts, served as an appetizer, were something I don’t usually see on a menu. Honestly, I could have just had the appetizer and been full. We didn’t finish half of it, so the portions are plentiful. I hope their calamari meets the exact expectations next time. They offer numerous deals and coupons for both online and take-out orders. We will be coming back, and yes, we will bring the kids next time, as I know...

This place is writing THE BOOK!!! And please don't let the book's Title fool you ie...they are NOT JUST amazing Pizza...wings...sandwiches and salads...YES...ABSOLUTELY Pizzaria 101...and then some...! By any NJ/ Metro NY standards....but the Trattoria piece of the book's title puts it over the top...AMAZING...the tables have beautiful linens and the interior is cozy...warm and inviting...Family owned and operated...super nice staff is outstanding...but the FOOD!!! The Trattoria piece is fantastic...I was unsure of what to order today and the owner asked if I liked seafood...? with a nod he said..."I got you"...see the pic...The Santa Lucia!!! OMG! Geographically not exactly in my backyard (close enough to be way worth it) this is my new "go to"! Hands down...for a plain slice, gourmet pie or 5 Star Italian...catering...quick to go...or...eat in...BYO which is nice...(reservation probably suggested I would imagine for peak times...it was busy but space available today when I visited off peak) also seems they have secret "off menu" specials that change daily... We recently hosted our parents’ fortieth anniversary party at Pizzaman, and we could not have hoped for a better experience. Not only did Aladdin work with us to create a stellar menu for this four course meal, but the wait staff was amenable and friendly the whole time. Our server, Lauren, was particularly kind and responsive with our guests’ requests and needs. The entire staff was happy to let our party of 25 use their space for the evening, and after a few days, my siblings and I have received multiple texts from guests detailing how much they enjoyed the experience.

Our meal included two salad courses, two appetizer courses, a pasta dish, and a choice of three entrees. Appetizers included mussels and calamari, and entrees were eggplant parm, shrimp scampi, and chicken francese. All of the courses were expertly prepared and satisfying for us and our guests. Between the excellent food and the quality service, we will certainly be looking toward Pizzaman for future banquet...
