Brass Pelican Varsity Club — Restaurant in Perkins Township

We have gone twice, each time worse than the last. Service was a joke, staff was more interested in socializing than making sure we had a drinks and food. The bartender repeated back one of our drinks, and made it with the completely wrong alcohol. I understand lax on a uniform but coming in to work in sweatpants and a hoodie looking like you crawled out of bed 5 min before your shift is lacking serious professionalism. The food was mediocre at the very most. The fried food came out like they hadn't changed the fryer oil in months and the oil itself was burnt. For what it was, I could have made better cheaper at home in my own fryer. I'm usually pretty forgiving considering the circumstances of recent times, but we will never suggest this place to anyone, and doubt we'll give it another try. Waste of...

I have tried with this place multiple times, I want to like it, I’ve had good food here and the wings are great. The service is almost never good, you will be waiting an hour at least on your food every time without fail. If you call for pick up add 20 minutes to however long they tell you. But my biggest peeve is the order is never right. Don’t try to sub anything, want provolone instead of American? Oh well you’re getting American. Pay extra for onions? Well they will charge you but they won’t be on there. Well done? How bout rare instead. I know they don’t care, this review is mainly for potential new customers and what they should be prepared for. The Brass Pelican is your basic dive bar with enough TV's to call it a sports bar. It is usually pretty busy during dinner and that means that service can be slower since the kitchen is small but the servers are pleasant. They will gladly get you another pour of whatever you need. Order a large draft and you will likely not need to see them again (huge frosted mugs). The food is the best bar food around and the daily specials are some of the best priced options I see anywhere. I come for the price and food options. There have been times when things are over or undercooked which is a disappointment when it happens.
