I have never had a bad dish here. This place is definitely not fancy with its ingredients or preparation, it is low-key Midwestern-US Thai + Chinese takeout after all, but even though it's not "best food I've ever had" levels of good, I keep coming back here month after month, year after year, every single time I drive through Sandusky. And in the 11 years that I've been coming here, the dishes have always been excellent regardless of what I try. Their Pad Thai is excellent. Their fried Americanized Chinese chicken/beef dishes are excellent. Their Drunken Noodles, Medicine Chicken, Pad See Ew, Basil Chicken, and other Thai staples are excellent. Their curry is excellent. Their appetizers, egg rolls, spring rolls, etc are excellent. EVERYTHING is good here. EVERYTHING is cooked excellently. Everything is always fresh. Everything is always a wonderful symphonic balance of flavor.
This place is a takeout that puts care into every dish, and knows how to consistently prepare food well, accurately, and deliciously. And for that they deserve some serious kudos. Objectively this place is probably a 4/5, again, it's not the kind of place that you're going to have the best version of a dish that you've ever had, but with how often I go out of my way to come here, and how much confidence I have in them to make absolutely any whim item on the menu that I feel like trying that day absolutely deliciously because they're so consistently excellent, there's no way I can justify not giving them a 5/5. I'm an addict, and come here EVERY time I'm in Sandusky, and I can't recommend it...
Read moreVery disappointed. We are very much vegetarians and can not eat meat. We ordered all of our dishes with the meat substituted with tofu, and it was obvious they made all of our entrees on the grill with which chicken and other (who knows what) animals were fried up on. We both got completely sick, and we went to return the food and they made a big deal about returning our money, after we had to travel 30 minutes twice today just to get the food and take it back. The money was returned, but their careless cooking has completely turned us off and completely traumatized us, we will never trust Jo Wok again with any of their services. We bout two large containers of Tom Yum soup, which I'm pretty sure has chicken broth and FISH SAUCE in it. So, to all vegetarians out there, BEWARE. I wouldn't trust this place as far as I could throw it. They don't include all the ingredients they use in the soups, probably because they know it'd turn the meat eating people off. All respects to meat eaters and vegetarians, but I felt I had to share this awful experience with everyone. I'm still sick and trying hot tea to soothe the stomach. Had to run to Krogers and pick up a plain cheese deli pizza as a last minute resort. I'm completely disgusted, because we were very excited to sit down to dinner tonight with take out. ...
