Must we continue the stereotype of Chinese restaurants being less than meticulous in their care for their customers? For selling food that is less than fresh or heated to proper temperatures. Is there a propensity in this type of cuisine for a lack of care or a misunderstanding of expectations that I will be served food in accordance with certain reasonable health standards? I am by no means a big government guy but I am all for the local health department regulating food standards. Which, by the way I start thinking while I am there. Does the LaSalle County Health Department ever come in and check the temperatures of the food being served on a Saturday evening in their buffet? Because I guarantee you that the majority of this food was room temperature at best.
My first plate of chilled food from the heated buffet table consisted of:
Red pork on a skewer which I believe is their chilled version of Char Siu or Chinese BBQ Pork. Breaded Shrimp which retained the water temperature from where they came. An ancient Crab Rangoon, flavorless, lifeless and cold. A cheese stick, OK I don’t know why either. And the coup d’état was a wondrous chicken wing that I did not even dare to eat. I instead rather marveled at its form. Descriptive words for the interior of this wing escape me. It is a shame that this bird gave its life to provide sustenance only to be mistreated in this way.
I could go on, but would bore you with the redundancy!

Read moreI was here for my birthday and it was the worst experience in a restaurant I've ever had. It is absolutely disgusting in this establishment, they had it's like curdled cake thing swimming in its own juices with a spatula left in it at the other end of the sushi table that wasnt under the sneaze guard , they had cooked shrimp and crawfish on the same ice tray as uncooked mussels, and my husband saw them wipe the counters down with a dirty rag and they swiped it over the fried rice and left it up on the hot plates. I wound up puking pretty soon into the mean especially after I saw how that cake was curdled and also dry and discolored on top. When my mother told the server we wouldn't be paying for this, considering one of us had puked the other 2 were about to as well. They got the manager who then told us that " if we no like we don't pay", "they only get paid 90¢ a year", and that " the kitchen is hot and that's why they do bad". She then tried to show us the temperature of the hot plates as if that was the problem with the food and not the growing number of health code violations going on in here. When we drove away we could see through the open door that the kitchen had only a screen door with holes in it and a window open with no screen. Would not...
Read moreSolid 4 stars for a buffet. We came in around 2:00 on a Monday afternoon. There were 2-3 other tables occupied when we arrived. We were greeted, sat, and our drink orders taken. I had coffee, and I do not recommend it. I'll drink pretty much any coffee put in front of me, but this was an exception. I could only get down about half the cup. Fine. Don't get the coffee. The main entrees on the buffet were hot and fresh enough, but mostly they were just really delicious. By our second trip, it was close enough to dinner that everything was piping hot and completely fresh. Several chicken dishes, beef dishes, some pork, and some seafood (shrimp, salmon, artificial crab, etc) The meat was well trimmed and tasted great. I didn't get any mystery pieces, gristle, or fat to speak of. The sushi was not great, but I wasn't expecting it to be. The dessert bar was extensive and included a variety of self select hard serve. Two adults and a child cost $45 including drinks and a 20%+ tip. Though I didn't find everything to be perfect, I've never found anyone to be perfect either so it's par for the course. Service was fine, no complaints at all. If you're in the mood for Chinese buffet, there's no reason not to try...
