Love the Igloo! Went yesterday for lunch. Not a fan of the white walls or the lighting. The wood walls were so much cozier. We typically have the same order when we go. Cup of chili, pork with the works, small cheese fry. We both thought the chili was a different color then usual. Taste was weaker. Also had chunks of onion that had been cooked in it. I've never had a chunk of onion in Igloo chili. Fries were the same. Then the porks. I was 2 bites in and my husband was still not eating. He finally says "what is that". Pointing to his bun. I notice a speckled red streak. About an inch long quarter inch wide. Then look at my bun and see a similar marking. We firmly did not believe it was ketchup because it wasn't sitting on top the bun and didnt scratch or wipe off in any way. I then said " is that BLOOD?" We finally flagged a waitress over. Showed her and she took our food to be remade. Came back a few minutes later and said she had the cook sanitize everything and put gloves on!!!!!! Which gave me the impression it was in fact BLOOD. We got our new sandwiches. I couldnt eat. All I could think about was how much contaminated food did I already eat! Our waitress came by a bit later and she also apologized for what happened. The new owner was in the building. I saw the girl that took our contaminated food bring it in back where the cook and owner met her. The owner never came and said a thing to us. We also always get chili to go. We should have canceled that because we came home and tossed everything right in the trash .... after paying our full bill ... which was $50!!!!! Wont be going back to the Igloo!!!! This was one time we wished one of us had our phone with us to take pictures!...
Read moreThe Place The Igloo is a true classic restaurant because I grew up eating here as a kid. It was alway the place to frequent. Times have change but the Igloo is still a great place to eat. The interior has had new chairs, tables and booths added. It is very clean and the restrooms have been updated.
The Menu The menu at the Igloo is a on par with most diner offerings. Burgers, Hot Dogs, Barbecued Shredded beef, Chicken sandwich, Fries, Soups, Salads, and then was always the amazing pork tenderloin. We had a little of each at this visit. Couple hot dogs, couple cheese burgers, shredded beef, pork tenderloin and a plate of fries. Overall our meal was good but I was disappointed in the pork tenderloin. This was always my favorite. Now its smaller, thinner, and less flavorful.
The Experience/Service/Value My grand kids enjoyed my old hangout. They quickly ran through their quarters in the arcade. Our service was good and food pricing represented a good value. The owners need to work on restoring the pork tenderloin back to its previous status of AMAZING. Still recommend you stop by the Igloo for a touch of nostalgia and...
Read moreMy wife and I had a great post-hike stop at Igloo Diner. The food was freshly made, the ingredients fresh tasting (as opposed to frozen), and the service friendly. Oh, and the shake was definitely worth it.
Following a hike, it’s nice to have some good eats. My SO had the cheeseburger, and noted how flavorful and juicy both the burger and the toppings were. I had the pork tenderloin, and it tasted fresh, not frozen.
The food was great and we’re glad we stopped here. The only odd thing was the sandwiches come plain, but I understand with the costs of food how it may be necessary to nickel and dime the dishes.
For dessert, we shared a Snickers shake. It was super good. There were full Snickers minis in there, even.
All in all, stop here instead of a fast food joint. It costs similar (if you do shared sides and such), and...
