I reside in Novato, CA and we have Farmer's Market on Tuesday afternoon and evening at the West end of the Lucky shopping center. Its at the parking lot behind the CVS. This is a really well run Farmers Market with many high caliber and specialty booths/stands.
My very favorite booth overall is the Anna's Seafood booth. It is the main reason I go; and although there are several booths that I enjoy every time I go, Anna's seafood is always the highlight. I have never had as fresh and delicious seafood as what i get from Anna's unless I caught it myself.
Raul is the main person manning the booth. He is a very kind and courteous person, and always remembers me, and knows what I love. It's the Smoked Salmon. I can't leave without taking some home. It is so PERFECTLY SMOKED, soft moist and super-delicious. It is so good that it reminds me of the smoked Salmon I had as a kid in the 60's at my grandparents home in Queens, NY; one of my favorite childhood memories. There is always something special there for any seafood lover; and Raul will answer all of your questions, and can even suggest different things to try. So many great choices to pick from, and all ultra fresh and so delish ( which rhymes with fish) ! ! ! ... and tell him...
Read moreI've had shellfish from this market before and it was fantastic (which is why I gave 2 stars instead of zero), unfortunately the customer service was the WORST! My family from out of town was visiting for a birthday out at the beach, we decided it would be fun to get oysters for a special dinner, so I suggested Anna's. It said online that the market closed at 5. It was 4:45, so worrying about traffic we called in advanced to see if we could pick up 2 dozen oysters even if we didn't quite make it before 5, the employee on the phone (understandably) seemed annoyed with us asking, but agreed to help us. As we pulled up to the market at 4:59 and sprinted for the door, she shut and locked the door in our face and made a cut-off hand gesture at us. We went back to the car and watched two more customers leave with seafood she refused to us. Disheartening and disappointing...if you want a loyal customer base then you should have no problem staying open for one more minute, especially since we called and were under the impression they...
Read moreI visited my mother for dinner and she purchased some crab cakes from Anna's seafood.
We were excited to try them as we had normally got our crab cakes from Petaluma market or whole foods.
However, when we opened them and started to cook them, we were nauseated by a sickening repulsive smell from the crab cakes.
We were hesitant but decided to try them anyways. The crab cakes tasted a bit bitter and the flesh was stringy. I could not eat mine because the smell was so overwhelmingly disgusting.
These are by far the worst crab cakes I've ever had. We were told they were "fresh" but they did not tell us when they were actually made and there was no date on the package.
Crab cakes I got a whole foods or Petaluma market were much much better - and at least edible too!
My suspicion is this is a semi fraudulent place that sells rotten seafood from time to time. I...
