Sankofa Kitchen — Restaurant in Petersburg

This place is terrible. Being so far from home to attend school, I was missing some Nigerian cuisines so I decided to try this place. The man in the front is incredibly rude, it surprised me because I have NEVER known Ghanaians to be rude people. Being a first generation child of Nigerian immigrants people can rarely tell i’m African, so they often treat me differently unless I introduce myself. My first problem was that I did NOT receive a bowl from them to wash my hands, so I assumed that maybe since they have a variety of cuisines they aren’t authentic and just don’t offer that. Nope! Older african man comes in and receives one. Then I ordered beef patty because they didn’t have meat pie… the patty was BURNT and hard. At the end when I told him to take it off the tab because I showed the lady the burnt party and she trashed it, HE WENT LOOKING FOR IT and didn’t believe me ! He even asked her why did she trash it. He was so excited to serve everyone FOREIGN but when I appeared in front of him as a regular Black VSU student he treated me disgracefully. I would never eat here again because this man is very wicked. May the rest of his days be full of...

Only 2 stars for this. Had high hopes for it and excited. I walked in 2 young men were finishing ordering, I ordered 2 combos. Simple jerk chicken and jollof rice with fish to go. While I was ordering the guy didn't see like he wanted me there. 4 people came in, ordered, got their food, and left , the 2 men finished eating and got up. Then I got my food when the place cleared.. an hour later. (I'm not the normal client complexion for this area)... I get home 8 minutes later. The food is room temp, stale, smells old, and is hard, the fish was only a bone skeleton with mabey 2 bites of meet. The Jollof rice was so hard and burnt I had to cut it with a knife (you could tell it was burnt in the bottom of the pan and very old). The cabbage seemed like it was in the bowl for a few days and just scooped out.. the only thing that was edible was the fufu (still cold and seemed not all the way cooked)... the red rice and beans where not all the way cooked. The jerk chicken was okay. More bone than meat. I was really hoping for so much better especially...

Those is greedy people, we called them to order some food for the first time and we paid more then $135 for a little portion of food , as we already asked them to take care with the order because we were hungry , but all we get is was some bones with soup , i didn't check the reviews and the pictures of the of others people until now which make me more disappointed with what we received and if i would count it as orders barely it would be 5×$17(according to them menu)=$85 Which i didn't see the menu until now , thats i accepted what they say at the call But what we paid was about $150 Which show how greedy they are with the quantity of the food that we get Thats also we are 1 mile away of the restaurant
