Goodness & Mercy International Food Market — Restaurant in Virginia

Never had African food before so I couldn’t tell you if it was good or not. It tasted ok but the experience was not a good one. The women was rude. My husband explained to her we never had African food before and was trying to get her to explain the different dishes. She basically brushed us off like she was annoyed we were asking her questions. We didn’t know the different names of dishes and was curious as to what was in them before making a decision. This seem to be a bother to her and walked away and said call me when you are ready. Seriously, you have new customers in your restaurant and can’t be bothered to explain anything to the customer and because of this we will never go back to that restaurant again. Instead of gaining a new customer that comes back time and time again. You have a new customer that will never come back to your restaurant because of the poor customer service. I mean come on it would have taken the lady a few minutes to explain each dish and there was no one in the restaurant so it wasn’t like she was so busy that she couldn’t take the time. That I would have understood and would have waited until she had the time to explain the menu. So I ended up ordering something not sure of what all was in the dish but like I said I have never had African food so it could have been good or just passing for food. I was able to finish the dish so it wasn’t horrible. Oh and two customers came in after which I believe were African, I am not sure but she had no problem talking to them. Just flat out rude to us. This establishment really played with me and I will never go back! I went to this place Saturday night and the cashier seemed overly nice when I came to pick up my food that I called in to order.. so gave him my card to pay, he puts it in the card reader and it legit takes 5 minutes for the system to take the card ig, I’m not sure but it took way longer than anywhere I’ve ever visited. But anyways I got egusi soup which rung up as $21.07. I got my food and went home, mind you I was the last customer that night. So when I woke up the next morning I see that this establishment deducted 15 extra dollars from my card for a tip that I did not add!! So I called them immediately and no answer, I called 5 more times and still no answer so I pulled up. Once I get there, the same man who rung me up the previous night proceeds to not even greet me once I walked in which seemed weird bc the night before he was all happy and jolly. So once I walked in he immediately walked straight to the back as if he already knew what I was there for.. he went in the back for what felt like 10 minutes until my bf (who was with me) knocked on the kitchen door and someone else went back to get him. Once we spoke with him he basically made it seem like “it’s only $15” so I shouldn’t be doing the most.. I will never go here again, this has never happened ever. You guys have to watch those card machines where people can add tips later on the card account. But moral of the story, that was a lesson learned for me and I hope to prevent this from happening to...

I just want to say that I knew what to expect by reading the previous reviews. I called my order in ahead of time, the caller said my food should be ready in 20 minutes, I came in 30 minutes. There was a line, or what I assumed was a line, but I guess people just walk in and say what they want, I am unsure, but I know, I perceived that I waited in a line. I was waiting for like 10 minutes before I informed the cashier that I called my order in and what it was. Someone else has been waiting an hour for their food and it wasn't done. My food was done. I noticed the one tray worth of food and was kind of upset, until I got home and realized that they filled my tray up to the top with food. I was happy for that and the food was under $14. I tasted the food and everything was immaculate. Like I wanted to eat it all in one sitting but got full after eating a third of it with my son. I was so happy to warm it up and eat it again the following day.

I will say that you should order from this restaurant because the food is really delicious, but just don't have any plans soon after, there's no telling how long you will wait. Do not be in a hurry once you place this order, have the utmost time to spare.
