This 3.8-mile out-and-back trail near Colonial Heights, Virginia is a hidden gem and local favorite. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1h 12 min to complete. This trail is great for birding, road biking, and running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas. There are local art installations near the start of the trail and a covered pavilion with picnic tables and view of the river about 300 yards farther down from the...

Easy asset to the river and plenty of restaurants in the area if you want to shop or just set in or out to eat the has a lot of stores, on water ways some people follow the rules for slowing down when going by other boaters and some people don't, they speed by you, like you are not there, that can be dangerous when you are sitting still in the water fishing, especially if your boat is not a big boat, why would you want to be like that, other than that, the fishing can be great, I forgotten that there is a lot of trash in the water, looks like blowing out of...

Everyone said this place was great and it exceeded my expectations. My only complaint is that the benches stop at about mile 4. I have to rest after 40 minutes of walking. I just sat in the grass. Other than that this place is gorgeous and great for walking. I don't fish, but many people do that here. I've been during the week and on the weekend. Never crowded. My dog gives it 5 stars too. I visited the first time in April 2022. UPDATE: There is another bench at the 9 mile marker. Right under the interstate. Very loud, bad view, but good for resting if...

Not a fan... on 6-28 kayak paddle smelled raw sewage odor up stream, saw water discharge further up steam of fluid with high chlorine smell. Arrival at dock noted family fishing -not catch and release. They were going to eat the catch. Banging truck gates from near by landfill was not pleasurable... but can't be avoided. Positive: saw fox, buzzards, turtles, ducks, and one heron.

Short trail 1.5 miles on pavement. Random little nature trail covered in liter that leads to another trail head directly under a bridge. Total of 2 miles one way. Decent upkeep considering this is the first day of spring. Will be looking for better trails in the future. Primary focus was running.
