I've read all the rage about this place and it did not disappoint. First off, the owner is as nice as can be. She is super sweet and while she runs the front, her husband is in charge of the kitchen as the head chef. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to eat so I decided to have some fun and told her to surprise me. Rarely do I trust a place enough to do that during my first few visits, let alone my very first one. So here is what she gave me and let's just say, I was one happy girl when I opened up my boxes when I got home!
陳皮雞 Gen Tso Chicken- The dark meat chicken is battered just right and has a slight crisp as it is cooked perfectly in a sweet and tangy sauce. This dish is usually a good benchmark for me for Chinese food.
豆干炒肉絲 Pork and dry tofu bean curd- I think this dish is off menu? This is literally something my mom would cook for me growing up and it was so good. My mom would prolly smack me on the head right now but it is just as good as what my mom would make it!
炒米粉 Singapore rice vermicelli rice noddles- I saw a lot of pics of this and I am glad she added it to my order. It has shrimp, pork, beef, fluffy eggs, broccoli, carrots, and napa cabbage. I heated this up the next day and it tasted just as good!
炸麵包 Fried donuts- guilty pleasure. It's literally just fried dough dipped in sugar. Just cant go wrong.
酸辣湯 Hot & Sour Soup- ok, i am a hot and sour soup fiend. This hits the spot for me. It has a great balance of the vinegaryness (yes I know that is a made up word but it's the best word for it!) and a slight hint of spiciness that makes you want more. I saved some the next day and added rice to it for a little mid day snack and oh, it was good!
My only regret, I need to go back and try these green beans that everyone's been...
Read moreThe food here is amazing. My mother took me here yesterday for lunch and I thought she was crazy for a minute and then when the proprietor greeted her by name and escorted us to a table I began to understand why my mother loves it so much. The crab puffs are incredible and you're served a very large portion of them. My mother wanted the orange chicken but cannot eat spicy food so it was custom made for her without any of the heat. Speaking of heat the hot and sour soup I had was the most tasty hot and sour soup that I have tasted. It had just enough heat to make it smokey but not enough to make you reach for your glass of water. You were able to truly enjoy the nuances of the hot and the sour. Going to have to go back to those crab puffs- I brought leftovers home to my husband who had them that evening reheated and he asked me where those came from, because the amount of filling inside those puffs was incredibly generous and balanced a well with the amount of the wonton wrapper. This is not a case of a tiny bit of cream cheese in a gigantic wonton. I am incredibly impressed at how they handled thee experience of opening up in a post lockdown environment. They were cooking for both dine-in and delivery. Judging by the constant stream of deliveries they received while we were there, I would not doubt any of the reviews that I've seen and I am very assured that my experience and enjoyment of the food is shared by others in the neighborhood. This volume of happy diners ordering from there did not impact the speed of our dine-in service. This is an opportunity to have amazing food carefully prepared and thought out for you and support businesses in Pflugerville. So grab that crab puff by the horn and give this...
Read moreGet the fish...because you'll know it is actually fish. We live up North and are always looking for good food / new places. The reviews were positive in google for this spot so we decided to give it a shot - will not be returning. We ordered fried rice- her veggie and me chicken fried rice. We also ordered en egg roll each. Egg rolls were typical frozen egg roll style - not bad, not especially good and I am confident they were not made in house / microwave variety. Fried rice itself was ok - blandish but average....BUT the "chicken" was really gross. The meat was mostly gristle and some sort of dark "meat" that did not in any way resemble or taste like chicken; Extremely rubbery and gelatinous...which is NOT a good thing. Texture was between beef and octopus...not saying I'm sure it wasn't chicken but I am definitely saying I'm not sure it WAS chicken....the implications are horrifying to say the least. I removed the chicken and ate some of the veggies and rice. POSITIVES: Portions were huge and prices reasonable. Waiter was nice and everybody very polite, prompt, attentive and friendly.
I didn't try a lot so maybe some other things are good (good review was online for the garlic fish)...but I will never return here and do not recommend anybody patronize a place that would serve that kind of mysterious foul tasting "meat". Very bad experience and having nightmares about what I actually ate a few pieces of that was called "chicken" by this restaurant...be afraid, be...
