First and foremost, I would like to say that customer service was everything. I’m very big on how people energy is when cooking my food if your not happy the food is nasty!!
Secondly, unfortunately I had to give 3 stars because of some off the food. I order a steak and eggs, also a short rib with mac and cheese and greens. The steak was thin and had a lot of fat on it, I’m not sure why it wasn’t cut off. Maybe to make it seem like more or just didn’t do it but it was tasty from what I could eat. The eggs were okay I asked for them to be cooked easy so if they were maybe because they were in a container with foil they continued to cook. The potatoes I asked for no onions and bell peppers and I got a plate full of them and potatoes were not cooked all the way through. Yet flavor was cool.
Second dish short ribs, was so excited to see it when I got it. The mac & cheese was good and I’m a Big Mac and cheese person so that was a plus for me, greens were cool wish they were also cooked a bit longer and had more portions of it. Cornbread was the best and I’m not a huge fan of cornbread so to say I ate the entire thing was amazing. Now for the meat they do give you a big portion of it but when that size is so big I believe your cook time should be longer. Flavor was good but I wasn’t able to eat it due to the fat on it and I couldn’t even stick a fork in it. So it was disappointing I had to get rid of it. I think if they would have cooked it longer to be more tender that would have changed the whole meal in my opinion. I would like to go back to try other things on the menu that seem...

We were greeted upon entering, waved in, told to sit right down, was told who our server was and was given the spill about how they had the best shrimp and grits in the city (with social proof).
The food was really good. I find some of these breakfast spots food starts to taste just like the grease and the grill so I wasn't sure what to expect. Everything was great. The toast, the eggs (I really hardly ever eat eggs at places because they never scramble them right) these were delish! They had BEEF BACON. No pork on my fork! A lot of these place do not carry beef bacon. It's always Turkey or chicken. The bacon was slamming!
Ohhhh and the grits! Slamming! My husband didn't even put sugar in his (I know he should be doing that anyway). He did the steak and eggs and it was a skirt steak so we didn't have to wait all day for it to get done and it was pretty tasty.
Our server was on point and we had a really good time. Def going back for the live jazz one day. Might go back TODAY!
The only thing I would suggest is that Amari's comes up with their own mix of drinks. They only have bottled drinks (teas and juices and lemonade) and they just don't hit the same with the food like a homemade iced tea or handmade...
Read moreA group of us went to Amari's last week. Two of us got the Fried Swai Fish and Grits, one got the Fried Fish Hoagie, and the other got the Fried Whiting Fish and Grits. I've listed below our review of the meals we purchased:
The two Fried Swai Fish and Grits meals (can't call them platters because they came with no toast OR EGGS) had one small piece of fried fish and cheese grits. Although the grits were already mixed with cheese, they were served on the side in a SMALL cup! What's up with that because, if nothing else, other restaurants give you too much grits? Neither fish meal came with toast...but, when you purchased the eggs (which, again, didn't come with the fish and grits), you got toast. SMH! Oh, and the Fried Swai and Grits meal was $14.80 + tax.
Again, the Swai fish on the Fried Fish Hoagie (they only have Whiting or Swai) was small, and my niece said it was salty.
The Fried Whiting and Grits meal looked delicious, and the serving size of the fish was ample. The cheese grits that came with that meal were also on the side, in a SMALL cup. This meal did not come with toast or eggs either, which, again, you'll have to purchase separately for $3.75/2 eggs.
IF I go there again, I'll get the Fried Whiting and Grits...
