First things first, the white DM truffle pizza is the best pizza I ever ate. My wife is Italian and I lived in South Philly enough years to say this place has something special when it comes to pizza and I haven’t mentioned their steaks being top notch.. just that DM pizza is so good. If someone doesn’t like it, as they say “they ain’t right”. Try it with pepperoni for the contrast of the sweetness of the pie, with the truffle, ricotta cheese and the pepperoni … My thing is I like pizza that doesn’t flop down with grease pouring out and I like to fold my pizza like my Dad taught me when I was young so this place is my favorite. Also the Buffalo chicken pizza is unreal and I don’t usually eat Buffalo chicken pizza so I was impressed to say the least. The cheesesteaks are tip top. The meat is definitely a higher quality than other spots. They didn’t skimp on spending the $ on the meat. The bread is also fantastic. Nice crunch and no mush to it. You don’t get that mush at Avenue. I have tossed mush pizza and steaks before but that doesn’t happen here. All you hear when you are eating are people saying the food is great. On top of the food, they are a Pepsi joint so there is the 215 loyalty since this is a Pepsi city (Eagles official soda). I should mention the owners hang out and make sure everyone is happy. It’s definitely a great place for the family and they did the neighborhood a favor by lighting up a once dimly lit area of Oregon Avenue right by Broad St station. In a city full of pizza and cheesesteaks this is a spot that’s making a name for itself!

Finally stopped here after going by Oregon Steaks which had a big line so I thought I’d give Avenue Steaks a shot. I orders a Roast Pork with sharp provolone and roasted long hot peppers to go. The girl taking the orders was very friendly and personable which is something you don’t often find. The sandwich was around $12-13 and served on a long roll. I got home a few minutes later and immediately opened it up to eat it. So, the roast pork seemed like it had been in a pan soaking in its juice in a steamer to keep it hot for sandwiches all day/night at too high of a temperature and it completely broke down into tiny little bitty pieces (as you can see by the pics I took). The taste itself was good but it was just minced up so much and an odd texture. Maybe I am completely wrong and this is how they make it but I’ve never seen it like this before anywhere else (reminds me of a D’Alessandros cheesesteak!). Also, I don’t feel it was sharp provolone, it tasted like mild provolone to me.

Ok, so this place is interesting. Tourists know Pat and Genos, but locals know about this place. It is open to 4am and offers cheesesteak, pizza, wings, desserts, and meatballs.

Sadly, I have only had the cheesesteaks and pizza. Both are very good. The cheesesteaks are very delicious and are still good even at 3:30am. Unfortunately, if you go at three a.m., you may have to deal with drunk people and soda or other foods not being available.

The pizza is very good for a place that sells many things. I was very surprised by how good the crust and sauce were. I saw other reviews talking about the pizza, and i had the pepperoni pizza. I can not vouch for others, but it's safe to say, stick to the classics like plain or pepporoni to guarantee it will be good. Other reviews got specialty pizzas. Unfortunately, they have a half box menu on their sign, but do not sell half boxes anymore. It's time to update this guys.

If you're going late, parking is going to be tough if you have a large vehicle, but you'll be able to manage. Typically, you order at a computer, but when late, you can order that the window. The people there do not have the typical cheesesteak attitude and are very friendly and accommodating.

If you are nearby, I do recommend having the classic cheesesteak, no other one, and pizza. I wanted to try the truffle butter cheesesteak, but they are also out of that one. I tried a cheesesteak with tomato and provolone last time, and it was good, but no classic. Have the classic, have...
