Kingston 11 — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Walked in it was two people in front of me and my friend 1:06 they took our order 1:14 that was cool what I don’t like is there are no prices only a chalk board and another lighted board with menu items I ordered LG ox tail and I wanted sweet potatoes and greens I was told that with the ox tail rice has to be one of the two sides you get 🧐🤦🏾‍♀️😳that was already a red flag I never went anywhere where your food comes with two side but the ox has to have the rice and we get ox all the time! Ok fine so I as for rice and peas she tells me they are not done yet it’s gone to take like 25 more mins I said ok that’s cool she told me it was gone to take 35 minutes for my order to be done so getting rice and peas shouldn’t have been an issue right? I also ordered the general jerk fried chicken with side of Mac & cabbage total 70$ ok no problem one thing about me I don’t mind paying if the food and portions are good ok so 45 mins pass by now I have to feed more coins into the meter I had to do that three times because you sure don’t want a ticket in Philly we drove almost two hours for this food found the place on IG food looks great from videos posted on their page fast forward it’s now 1:15 mins has passed still no call to me or my friend for our food at 2:24 they finally call way to long for this kind of food especially if y’all open at 1pm simple items like the rice and peas should’ve been already done my friend food still wasn’t ready when we got in there to get my order 🧐🤦🏾‍♀️ so they show you the food it looks pretty good FYI taste your food before you leave is all I have to say!!!!! That cabbage 🚮 trash too salty and crunchy, white rice dry and sticky also they only give you a scoop of rice so it seemed the cheapest thing to buy 🤦🏾‍♀️ that mac was too damn salty as well it was missing something for sure seems like they only thing in it was salt and cheese 😳 the fried jerk chicken was nice fresh and it was good but also very salty 😳it had a good taste but I get a spicy 🌶️ taste rather than a jerk flavored taste my husband ox tail he said they simply failed 😞 they was chewy/ rubbery he said they definitely was not fresh at again he eat ox tail and make them at least twice a week he said they must of been from the day before or older and very dry for the ride and long wait and price I’m give it a NO for us also my friend got the fried jerk chicken as well they didn’t give her any rice which she asked for than had a never to charge her5$ for a scoop or white rice 🍚 oh yeah with my husband ox tail they gave him white rice when I clearly stated I wanted the rice and peas so I said something to the lady about that she tells me the rice and peas just got done but y’all opens at 1 and we ordered 1:14 I told you I wanted that and you said it would be done before my order would be up so why she tell me that rice jsut got done I said well we waited over an hour so I need some of that with gravy and she got me a scoop of it smh 🤦🏾‍♀️ wasn’t impressed at all for that kind of money and wait time the food should’ve been better and this is my honest review also they do give nice portions of the jerk chicken it’s enough for two maybe three people it all should have smaller sizes this way people won’t have to pay so much for so much food if you don’t eat that jerk fried chicken soon you know it’s not gone be right when you heat it up so maybe do a half size serving for half the price my friend also got the streak and shrimp that was 40$ 😳🤦🏾‍♀️ that’s wild it was like 6 shrimp and not alot of steak definitely not how the videos look that they have on their page 😳🤦🏾‍♀️ a they robbed her on that platter and it was just alright nothing to talk about also 5$ for a mistik drink is insane/ wild the case only cost them no more than 25-27$ from a restaurant depo store 24 in a case and y’all selling for 5$ each that’s highway robbery! So, I finally made it to “KINGSTON 11” in Philly and, I have mixed feelings about it. I have to say the customer service was not the best at all. I was about 20-25mins away from the place when, I called in to place an order for pickup. they had me on hold for 15mins. When someone finally pickup the phone again, I was pretty much looking for a spot to park. the female that got back on the phone asked me could, I call back, because she wanted to call another customer about an order 🤨? I was confused by that and my response was I’m sorry I’ve been on hold for 15mins trying to place an order for pickup, and now, I am already parked out front. Her response was well can you come in to place your order 🤨🤨 again I was confused. Yet I really wanted to try this spot because all their food post on Instagram looked so good especially that Jerk chicken General Tso. so I went in to place an order. I stood there for about another 10mins before someone even took my order. It was total chaos in this place, there were so many people waiting inside for their orders that were called in, as well as people waiting to place orders. Finally they took my order. And I had to wait another 15mins to receive. when I finally got my three platters, I checked them all. one of my platters was Jerk Chicken one of my Favorites whenever, I go to any Jamaican spot. There was NO Jerk sauce on chicken or Rice & Peas. I ask the young lady could, I get some Jerk sauce on everything? She reached for the Jerk bottle and proceeded to add Jerk sauce to my platter. yet the bottle literally only had a few drops in it, she had the nerve to attempt to close the lid on the platter 🤨 which I said are you serious???? You’re not going to put more jerk sauce on my order??? So she goes to back fills up the bottle comes back to the counter. I open my lid back up thinking she would pour sauce over everything. She then pulls out this little ramekin and squirts some jerk sauce in to it . I said are you serious 🤨🤨????? I just purchased 3 Large platters and your not gonna pour sauce all over my platter??? She says well if you want more Jerk sauce you have to pay extra 🤨🤨🤨 Confused 😕 again, my response was there was never any jerk sauce on the platter to begin with so why would, I have to pay for extra???? I’ve never been to a Jamaican spot where there was Never any Jerk sauce on the food, that’s what makes the entire platter smh. I did not want to get more upset so, I just took my 3 Lg platters and left. All that being said the food was good. I will say IF anyone plans on going to this spot, you should place your orders waaay in advance some foods are made to order which could take up to 35-50mins. Even tho, I really want to try that Jerk chicken General Tso, I do not think I would go back which is sad 😢. I traveled all the way from Brooklyn to taste your food. I was in Philly for an event and when my friends asked where we should go to eat I mentioned your restaraunt because of what I saw. The restaurant is clean it's a take out spot. When I got to the front to place my order nothing that was on the menu was available. One of my friends suffers from acid reflux (she can't have spicy food) and asked if there is was any fish that was mild. The guy who the girl called from the back was in the front said everything is spicy so she didn't get anything. She and my other friends left because they didn't like the tone of the guy that was helping her. To make matters worse the girl in the front didn't even know what was actually available and had to keep going to the back. I was still going to support this business but when I asked for a medium stew chicken the guy told me I could only going to get a large. I asked for peas and rice and they said and I was told that there wasn't anymore I could have white rice, at this point I was hungry and I didn't care anymore. The girl in the front said I'm not sure if there is any white rice let me check to see if there is any. I had enough and didn't get to taste the food. I will be not be going back. This restauraunt needs to work on customer service, needs to retrain their employees, the front of the restauraunt should know what is going on in the back. Also they need to write prices on the menu and take whatever is finished off the menu so people don't ask. The girl in the front was very nice she smiled the entire time and tried her best to help. It's a shame that she has to work in such a stressful place. Also people have different dietary restrictions and you should consider that.

Instead of trying to come at me about my experience and the and the incompetence received in your business perhaps you could humble yourself and read with comprehension. You are taking things personally instead of correcting your business practices. It is clear where the problem lies and that is you not your staff. I have many written reviews before, and the owners were apologetic. They even asked for my contact info to discuss my experience and asked for me try again. Your lack of compassion, empathy, and lack of reading comprehension is going to lead your business to the ground. You need to do better and be more professional. For you to respond in the matter that you did is pathetic. Also, there is no contradiction the front of the staff had no idea what was going on and what was actually ready hence why the girl had to keep running in the back. What happened to the runner? Who should be reporting to the front so there would be no discrepancies regarding food on hand. Every review is not going to be positive it is your job as a business owner to learn how to correct any mistakes that may have incurred so it doesn't happen again. I hope that you rectify the service in your place and your attitude so that you can remain...
