Okie Dokie Donuts — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Great GLUTEN FREE donuts!

It is hard to find any sweet gluten free pastries that are not made with almond (or other tree nut) flour. These folks did exactly that in a dedicated gluten free facility and they are awesome at it! And they do it for really reasonable prices.

It's a curbside, walkup order window. They had some display donuts in the window and the guy working was very helpful and friendly. Plus, he let us know that they are now able to ship their cake donuts!

We had a couple raised donuts, a lemon glazed and a chocolate glazed that both had great texture and taste. The apple fritter was huge, a creme brulee special was a nicely filled treat, and their raspberry lime cake donut was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. I don't intentionally eat vegan, but some of these were vegan and still tasted great too.

I will absolutely be going back next time I'm in town and I will likely also be ordering some of these little halos of deliciousness to be shipped to me in Tennessee.

Great work by the Okie Dokie Donuts team. Y'all really knocked these ones out...

The good: cute pick-up window, good service, lots of creative and gluten free flavors. Lots of potential!

The not so good: the donuts are much too heavy/thick and slightly dry. The fritter (which I bought 3 of with high hopes) had good flavor on the edges, but was much too “bready” without the usual apples/fruit bits mixed in to give it much needed moisture - especially with gluten free. With some apple pieces it would have been much better. The Boston Creme was in the same “fritter” shape and consistency/dough and was also too thick/bready for a Boston Creme. The chocolate coating had an “dipped” effect and was too thin and flavorless. The Creme wasn’t overly sweet and was a nice texture, but for the size it needed more to compensate for the dryness. Same issues with the lemon and the filled donuts - although the filling added a nice flavor and some moisture.

Overall, if the donuts were smaller it might take away some of the density issues that plague...

DONUTS!!!!!!!! There's nothing better. Except maybe like a donut on top of a donut that's on top of yet another donut. Okie rocks. As a gluten free goddess it is slapp-stastic amazing when you find treats that you miss, that are delicious and that allow you to eat things "normal" people take advantage of eating whenever they want. Okie changes their menu each month and I have never ever once got a flavor where I was like "ew." Each new donut literally blows me away. It's hard to pick a fav. Although I'll be honest and say that I am patiently waiting until Christmas time so I can buy all the coconut pandan I can get my hands on.
