Pretext: My friend booked this place for her birthday 8 weeks in advance. She had been in communication with the manager about the event and even came in person to make the deposit.
When we first arrived for the celebration the staff had no idea about the booking. One staff member began to scramble putting together tables for our party. As we were setting up the balloons that we brought with us a waitress was monitoring us in the corner with a scowl on her face. She stood in the corner glaring before she came to haughtily ask if we had booked the back room. We told her we did and she began interrogating us with follow up questions. Her demeanor was rude and condescending. She didn’t even allow us to answer the questions before she stormed off. At this point we asked to speak with the manager because now we’re fed up.
The manager wasn’t even there yet and this was well into the afternoon.
So, You were not prepared for a party of 9, That was planned well in advance. And then a random staff member who we later discovered was a waitress who was NOT working our party began interrogating US instead of focusing on the tables she should have been bussing.
When the manager arrived she lied and said the event wasn’t in the system which is funny cause the celebrant watched them add it to the system. When she paid the deposit in PERSON. Also if you had been discussing for weeks via email correspondence why weren’t staff aware system Or no system?
This “manager” made excuses for the waitress and decided comping us for two mimosas on a $400+ bill was adequate.
The waitress who was rude never came back to apologize. Instead she passively aggressively turned up the music in the restaurant to drown out the music we had playing on our speakers in the back room. Pathetic, just like her dye job.
The manager HID from Us after telling us she couldn’t do anything else after that shameless mediation and instead left her junior staff to handle the situation. It’s the “professionalism” for me. Shameful experience all around. Our waiter Jose tried his best to accommodate us and he was sincerely the saving grace of the entire experience.
As someone who loves authentic Hispanic food I will never visit this restaurant again and I would recommend others Especially people of color TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE
It’s 2021. I no longer have the desire to continue giving money to people who feel they can treat “us” shabbily and get...
Read moreMy daughter treated my cousin and myself to some authentic upscale Mexican food. The other place was closed. This place was rated #4 in the city of Philadelphia. The margaritas are exceptional. The food lacks Mexican flavors. The birria taste like South Philly roast beef. The carnitas taste like South Philly Roast pork. I love hot roast pork and roast beef from South Philly!!!! However, When I go to a Mexican restaurant I expect to taste the flavors of Mexico in the food. This was a fusion maybe??? If so, it does not work!!!! It is well decorated. The room deemed for parties is beautiful!!!! The staff was exceptional. The service was really great!!! I shared my experience with the owner. I didn’t get her name. I also shared my experience with the staff. My cousin was present during both conversations and he observed that during my conversation with the owner; She didn’t like my comments. He said, cuz I noticed she rolled her eyes up in the air. He commented, during the conversation , ”Yo Cuzn she’s not open to your comments.” I turned to her and said, “I’m sorry I’m just sharing my experience in your resistant and I’m being honest. I said, I’d rather share it with you.”
My daughter loved her tacos she had the Shrimp. I had the carnitas taco and my cousin had the Birria quesadilla with shrimp added. The guacamole and chips were very good. I would recommend this place for drinks and app. However I would go elsewhere for authentic...
Read moreWaiter was great and food was tasty. So this is nothing against the waiter’s service or food quality.
I ordered a beer off their menu without realizing it was non-alcoholic (see photo attached). From the photo you can see it is hard to distinguish it as non alcoholic since it is listed under regular beers and there is no 0%. The name was followed by N.A. on the menu but I didn’t think much of it because I thought it stood for North America.
I barely had a sip of it when I realized it tasted off, I read the can and saw it was “non-alcoholic beer”. I called the waitress over and asked if it’d be possible to switch it out. She at first said “no I don’t think so.” But she hesitated and said she’d ask the manager. She left and came back a few minutes later and told me it wasn’t possible.
Understandable. However, pretty disappointing as it is listed with other regular beers and not in its own dedicated section. Not the kind of service I was expecting when we had already purchased $20 nachos and multiple $15 cocktails. My bill was still over $70. This is a pretty pricey restaurant and you’d expect them to do their best to make it right on a beer that only costs a few bucks to them when everything is...
