Oteri's Italian Bakery — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Very unprofessional! First time customer and I do not recommend. I don’t usually make reviews but this was a terrible experience days before my baby shower. Ok so i was referred by a friend who got her baby shower cake here a few years ago. (I guess things changed since the last time she has dealt with this bakery). At first, the staff seemed friendly over the phone, when I initially placed my order. They accommodated my request for my cake and I was told that I DID NOT need to put a deposit down and could pay the day of pickup. Then a few days before my event (SMH).. I got a call from a VERY disrespectful employee saying that my cake should’ve been paid for a week ago. I explained that’s not what I was told or I would’ve done so. I’m also from out of town so I was going out of my way by even ordering from this bakery.. The fact that they don’t take payment over the phone was my main issue. She was trying to argue me down over whether or not I was told to bring the payment the day of. She wasn’t even the employee that I placed my order with. I told her that I do not live local and due to my work schedule, the earliest I could be in was the next morning (tomorrow).. She kept getting smart with me! Then what really lost my business with them, besides her tone and smart mouth, was a remark that she made. “Well looks like you just won’t have no cake on Sunday for ya baby shower, cause we’re not doing your order”. Smh… This made me upset. There is no need to be that rude to customers. I then had a family member who was able to drop the money off but honestly… we didn’t (and never will) feel comfortable giving them our money anymore. Luckily I was able to order the same exact cake from another bakery closer to my area! The bakery owner starred on the show “Cake Wars” so we’re very excited to see how it turns out. Looking at the reviews I’m glad this happened because it seems like the cake’s here are nasty anyways....

I loved Oteri's baker, have been going for years ordering my kids cakes from them because I liked that they could do any design I wanted, however the last few times I went there, I wasn't all that pleased with the service or quality. Last year I ordered a two-tier cake in which they took a picture, I specifically gave the colors but when I came in got the cake instead of the color being yellow and orange it was orange in green. Now they did correct the mistake, however this year I went for two orders. My son wanted ninja turtle cupcakes and a Batman cake, well I asked if they could do this basic order green frosting and a strip of red for the bandana and two eyeballs as if they were the ninja turtles face and I was told that they couldn't do it. mind you they always do amazing designs. so, I said OKAY I ended up getting the scan copy, of the turtle's face. now the batman cake I originally wanted my son didn't like. I ordered the cake on Monday and came in Tuesday to change the design because I was told over the phone that I could. When I got there the first girl that helped me was nice but she came back with this big lady no smile on her face and a very nasty attitude telling me that I couldn't change my design even though I Wasn't picking the cake up till Saturday and they haven't even started an proceeded to get smart because I said I've been coming to this bakery for years and tells me none of that matters . You could only Imagin how upset I was, and I had my 3-year-old son with me. Even though I was able to change the design after she called her boss, when I picked the cake up on Saturday, they got the size wrong and whoever did the cake did not even wrap the scan pictures completely on so there were gaps. I will never give them...

im not one who usually complains even when i dont like something i just leave it be... but i feel like with this bakery there is always a problem specifically that they dont follow directions very well i like the bakery because the prices are good and the cakes taste decent but after having multiple problems involving my birthday cakes i really should just go to shop rite and pay alittle more for better service i orderd a birthday cake for a friend with a scanned image of an asian celebrity on it i was showed the largest the image could be scanned and it was a pleasing size long and rectangle it fit the size of the cake great however when i came to pick up the cake today i see that the image was put sideways on the cake instead of the long way which would of took up the whole rectangle of the cake i asked for it to be fixed and it was but was then given back to me with the celebrities face coverd in blue lines right across his face i said thank you and went on my way with it but honestly i feel like it was done on purpose only because i asked if it could be fixed there are even a few holes poked in the cake but i took it home anyway i am really sad and alittle embarrased that i have to show everyone the cake looking the way it does but i didnt have the heart to ask for the second time that the cake be fixed i know working aint easy but some tlc with my cake would of have...
