Simply Good Food — Restaurant in Philadelphia

This is a very poorly run establishment. I try my best to support Black businesses, but this one has a serious problem. It's dirty, flies are everywhere and the service is... well... just terrible. My wife and I waited over 30 minutes for food that never came. When we arrived we were literally two of six people there. As time passed, we watched others who came after us be served their meals first. When we asked why so long, the rude server responded, " there is only one woman back there and she's by herself." After an additional 5 minutes of no attention or update, we decided to leave. The server still wanted us to pay for our coffee. It was $2. We didn't have cash so the old lady at the register tried to swipe my card... for $2. The server approached her and told her she couldn't swipe it for such a small sum. She then asked me, "Y'all ain't got cash? Well, I guess y'all got free coffee then. Bye!" Needless to say, I will think twice before supporting businesses that operate like this one. I ordered the meatloaf platter with mac and cheese and yams it was trifling and disgusting🤢. I waited about 35 minutes I thought the food will come out good and hot😢 no flavor to nothing, one thin piece of meatloaf. The whole platter was tasteless and nasty. I also ordered a side of lima beans when I got home open the container the lima beans was mixed with the rice, not on top of the rice, literally mixed🙄 who does that? That was ,also nasty and tasteless. I'm posting this not to be smart to the owner but to warn anyone who's about to spend their hard-earned money looking for good food it's not at this place, don't do it. Sorry to the owner about this post but I'm just being honest and you really need to get a new cook, someone who knows about flavor and how to cook . I was very disappointed. But the staff is nice and the prices are ridiculous high for no reason. I've paid $25 for the platter and side...

Edit: The fact That i stated what I was told about everybody liking the salmon cakes and a part of the response was “salmon cakes are a best seller” further let’s me know what I need to know. Lol. I definitely won’t be back. Best wishes though.

My first time there will most likely be my last time there. Ordered a breakfast platter with an order of salmon cakes. The platter was ok but the salmon cakes were too salty so I sent them back. The older lady (guessing she was the owner) looked me dead in the face and said she would only give me back half my money for them because everybody else likes them so it doesn’t matter that I don’t.
