The good: conveniently located in the terminal; good selection of wines including seasonals; interesting, tasty apps and plates. The not so good: I fully realize that it's terribly expensive to rent space and run any type of concession at the airport, but be prepared to drop $75 for a small bite and two glasses of wine for two persons, including tip. My wife and I had the cheese board (three excellent cheeses, wonderful fig jam, marcona almonds, dried cranberries, crostini), a small bowl of tomato soup, one 5 OZ glass of wine each. No water is served unless you ask. And upon asking I was insulted when the response from the server was "sparkling or tap?" A blatant bold move to steer us toward a pricey bottle of carbonated water. We ordered "tap" which was served without ice. Really. Come on. And as we were paying the tab we were offered a last minute special - only $3 a bottle for water to take with. And finally, they do sell bottled wine at retail but if you opt to drink it at the table there's a $12 service fee. I can handle the grossly inflated prices. But the break we took after schlepping luggage around and going through security was ruined the moment she said...
Read moreI found this location to be nice and quiet outside of the hustle and bustle of the airport. The food selections were so refreshing compared to your typical sandwiches, french fries, burgers and pub fare that you would find at other locations. The service was attentive but do not make me feel rushed. While the food and beverage is reflective of airport pricing, the quality of the food that I received was so fresh and superior and healthier than other options that I had to write this review. I enjoyed the avocado toast and a Mediterranean plate that was with hummus, feta, olives and tzatziki along with two glasses of very enjoyable wine. Cost with tax and gratuity came to just about $80 for one person but I think it was well worth the money for the food quality and good wine. If I come through Philadelphia again I won't be sure to...
Read moreI stop at Vino Volo whenever I'm traveling out of PHL (we also have one at my home base of SFO). They offer wines by the glass or flight, which is a great way to try new and unexpected labels. The selection is always changing, and there is something for every price range. These aren't your typical liquor store wines, they are curated specifically for Vino Volo, and every glass comes with a paper coaster telling you more about your selection (region, tasting notes, etc). I once had an excellent $17 glass of Pinot Noir that I literally dreamt about for weeks afterward. The food (mostly tapas-sized small plates) is also phenomenal for an airport. They're accustomed to solo travelers so you can feel free to relax, work on your laptop, or just chat with the...
