I parked my car on the sidewalk because the street is narrow, manager told me that people would be sitting close I said that was fine. When I left, I noticed my side view mirror was forced literally in the opposite direction. I thought nothing of it and pushed it back into position. It wasn’t until I got out my car that I saw the long scratch starting from my trunk to my front bumper. I came back and asked the manager if there was anyone I could call or if they had any cameras recording in that direction. He said no, and that he’s the manager so he doesn’t know what to tell me. Rude and unprofessional.

Went on the spur of the moment. Met Michael, the bartender, who makes really good drinks. Katie, the server, who was ever so attentive and nice and Alan, the cook, who made our delicious food. Our drinks were really good. We had the pork wings, which really was a pork shank. It was a little difficult to eat, but the sauce was amazing. Our burgers were cooked to perfection, which always means a lot to me. Their kitchen serves until 1:00 am, which is good to know. Looking forward to a return visit.

I agree with the other commenter that the food is horrible and they should get a real chef. The burger patty was burned. The chef claimed it was “charred on the grill”, but in fact it had a thick, bitter, black layer that we had to pick off before eating the burger. The pulled pork was not pulled — it had chunks of dry, flavorless meat in it. As a side note, the photos on the wall are not framed, and instead are just taped onto old mismatching frames.

Full disclosure, I am a long-time regular from when Watkins first opened in 2010. It's my local, go-to bar and of course when it was changing ownership in the Fall 2024 I was concerned how much would change. I have to say that I am very happy with the new ownership and changes that they have been making. The beer list has been slimmed down, but they are open to customer recommendations. They have also enhanced their cocktail and liquor program with lots of new additions in the tequila, bourbon/rye and gin categories.

The food has changed with some long time favorites such as the scotch egg no longer available. However, the food they have replaced it with has been very good despite what other recent reviews have claimed. The cheesesteak (and the vegan mushroom steak counterpart) are fantastic as is the crab wedge salad, mac and cheese and Chicken Vodka parm sandwich. I have not tried any of the hot dogs, but have heard they are tasty as well. Prices have remained fairly consistent with the old price structure for both food and drink (some of the drafts are slightly more expensive now, but nothing over the top).

They have introduced game day specials and also open earlier on weekends for sports which is a welcome change. The jukebox has been moved upstairs and a large TV has been put in its place for prime viewing. Old regulars are still coming to the bar and there are definitely a good amount of new faces.

Overall, while it's a different vibe than the previous iteration of Watkins, it's still the same neighborhood bar with a friendly staff, something for everyone whether you are a new customer or a long-time regular (they still have the same happy hour special for drafts every day, they still watch Jeopardy every...

Our family stopped into this South Philly staple on a weeknight for dinner and the Drinkery did not disappoint. While the previous menu contained staple bar food, the new menu was stacked with incredible new options including an extensive hot dog selection. We started our meal with the mushroom cheesesteak which came on a Sarcone’s long roll and a perfectly proportioned truffle oil cheese sauce that was truly delectable. As any cheesesteak aficionado knows, the roll makes the sandwich and the commitment to providing the very best ingredients shines through with this sandwich. The menu also included a mushroom calamari dish which was a hit with the entire family and an innovative way to present this classic appetizer. Our son loved the hot dog options and dove into his dog with reckless abandon. The hot dog menu is quite diverse with both traditional dogs and a myriad of interesting toppings (we tried one with a spicy relish that packed a perfect punch). The smash burger came with a great come-back sauce and was perfectly grilled and again served on a delicious South Philly bun. Everything we tried off the new menu was delicious, and we can’t wait to return to...

When friends and family are in town and want to check out the local establishments I always take them here. While many of the locals in the area come here though it's definitely NOT a locals-only bar. Having moved here just a couple years ago this was the first bar that made me feel comfortable when I first walked through the doors and they do this for everyone no matter if you're a regular or there for the first time. Their draft list is always an excellent mix of beers and the food is ALL made IN-HOUSE and is always a great selection. In summary: Great people, great beer, great food.......everything a...
