It NEVER fails, the restroom is ALWAYS NASTY!!! NO hand soap! No hand dryer! No paper towels! Toilet tissue not on a roll, hence falling onto the NASTY floor! I had to use toilet paper in an attempt to dry my hands & use it to open the door! Floor is ALWAYS NASTY( blood on the floor in womens restroom) Sink NASTY! I actually did a 360, questioning how bad I really needed to use the restroom! This place has been apart of Mt Airy as far back as I remember, being a little girl & the inside is a reflection of it. It doesn’t look like there is any pride taken in running this business. If my Name is posted outside for all to see, advertising, my business, you best believe I’m going to make it the best for my customers, hence making it the best for me. Update the appearance! The same old dusty railings (upstairs & downstairs), drop ceilings dusty w/ water stains. To me being a patron, I’m thinking, this business doesn’t care about it’s locals or attracting new customers. I can go on for a bit, so I’m just gonna end it with a list of Pros vs Cons.
CONS NASTY RESTROOMS ( consider hourly bathroom checks) OUT DATED APPEARANCE NO DRINK MENU ( just a few specials mentioned up on the wall. May wanna try something new to drink, but no suggestions as to what to try. Have “mixologist “ showcase their personal specialties). NO PRIDE IN BUSINESS NO SODA TAPS UPSTAIRS (the sharing of a 20oz soda bottle amongst customers when making drinks. Every time the bottle is opened it looses carbonation).
PROS NEIGHBORHOOD BLACK OWNED BUSINESS (that has the potential to make this...
Read moreThe former great Sonny’s restaurant is not what it used to be. There are no more of the scintillating famous Barbecue ribs and half chicken – that were delicately and lovingly prepared by those old-head cooks who knew their stuff.
The food is not the same, nor is the quality of the food. There is no longer the lingering smell of ribs, chicken, greens that used to rule the atmosphere of the outdoor of the restaurant – which could be breathed-in at least one city block away.
Wish that the new owners would realize what a goldmine they have, in the addition to that – where the bar/restaurant is situated in a great part of town; nearby to Germantown, Mt. Airy, East and West Oak Lane, and Cheltenham. In my book, food is king, it is what separates the great bar and restaurants who know how to cater to the needs of the ritzy crowd, in addition to the more refined crowd.
The bar itself has great host and hostess bartenders, and the drinks are well-made. Appetizers would also be a great idea to patronize those folks who frequent X Mark’s the Spot during happy hour, and after work hours.
Pros: Comfortable cozy atmosphere. Upper Deck includes pool hall for pool sharks. Cold beer always. Friendly bar staff.
Cons: Very small bathroom, no takeout menus, food quality...
Read moreI have came into this establishment 3 different times with my man, and the one thing he has always bragged about were their ribs. However, the 3 times we went there were no ribs which was a disappointment because they are known for that, also it would be nice if the bar service was a little more point, but you can’t make people work. After the last time we went which was 2/23, again no ribs and for some reason the ladies that cook only want to give one piece of swai. I would love to continue to patronize a Black owned business, but changes need to happen, the first one is bringing back the ribs!!!! And make some changes in...
