I wanted to give this place a great review and I fully intended to, but this will not be that. If you’re not Black, I’m sure your experience here will be great. But as a Black family, ours was different.
When we first walked in, the host seemed standoffish—an immediate red flag, though not blatant. We had a toddler with us, and no booster seat or high chair was offered, so we assumed they didn’t have any. We sat down and were asked about drinks by the same person. Since we were the only people there, I was surprised it took so long for the drinks to arrive. That was the second red flag, but we brushed it off.
When the drinks came, they were served in plastic to-go cups with lids. Not a huge deal—I thought maybe they were new and didn’t have regular cups yet. We ordered, and from there things seemed fine, except for the flies we had to keep swatting away, even covering our food with napkins while we ate.
After about 20-30 minutes, another couple walked in. They were greeted warmly, seated, and their drinks came out quickly—this time in proper restaurant cups.
To the average person, the individual issues feel like they don’t mean anything. But combined, they felt like microaggressions—subtle signals that we weren’t valued the same as others. This is something Black people know too well in certain establishments, no matter how well-mannered we are.
It’s disheartening. I was truly excited to try this place and support it, but I left feeling confused and sad that we’d spent money somewhere that didn’t seem to care we were there. And for anyone who might think this was “all in our heads”—had it not been for that second table, we wouldn’t have known. So if you’re not Black, I’m sure your experience will be great. I really didn’t want to even write this review, but it’s been heavy on me how different my family and I were treated and our voices matter. We deserve to feel like we will receive the same serve no matter the color...
Read moreAromatics are great as soon as you walk in so the expectation of flavor is definitely anticipated. We shared a few orders of spring rolls ( the rice paper cold rolls not fried). Tried both the shrimp and the tofu. Both were very tasty. I like my peanut sauce a bit thicker, but it had nice flavor regardless. A few of us had the seafood Pho and everyone definitely enjoyed it (We did it with the chicken Pho broth. They also offer a beef Pho broth version.) It would be nice if they offered a vegetarian version as well. The broth flavor was delicious. I got the spicy version and it had a good punch although I did add even more spice to it. There are condiments on the table to modify your dishes. The sauteed noodles with your choice of meat with broccoli and carrots we're tasty but not necessarily impressive. The little ice cream sandwiches were unique and tasty end to the meal. Just as a suggestion I would recommend that the servers keep an eye on the water or just leave a pitcher on the table if people are drinking a lot. Also, none of our dishes were ever cleared from the table. Even the appetizer dishes just sat there through the entire meal even though we stacked them for them to take. They all sat there even after the check was dropped and it was paid. It was surprising that when they checked on us they didn't just take them away so we had more room. Overall I would definitely recommend you give them a try. A nice addition to our...
Read moreWent to the new Amy's Pho last night at Union Hills & 7th Ave for their Grand Opening. Place was small, but clean, and Food was amazing! Price was very reasonable. Spring Rolls with Pork and Shrimp is by far the best and the freshest I've ever had, and we came in an hour before closing. Crispy eggrolls (you have to pay extra if tou want fresh veggies 🤔), Combination Pho' was Superb, a lot more meat than our usual go-to, and very tasty. My wife and I shared a bowl and was just perfect! Just did not like that Boba was not available on Grand opening days, but we settled for Thai Milk Tea (an acquired taste, a little stronger than your regular iced tea). Service was fast and friendly once you are seated, but since the place is small, you may have to wait to get seated. Overall, it's a great addition to our neigborhood if you are craving for a fast, decent Vietnamese Food. Hope they stay Fresh and not become too complacent, like the other Pho places in our area. Shout out to all the workers for keeping it Cool, Friendly, and Fast when the...
