My husband has been wanting to try Base for a while. He raved about the food based on the reviews. So of course, I expected this place to blow my socks off! We made a reservation for 7pm and we were promptly seated. Sadly, we were not pleased with the food. Any of it. They don't offer a kid's menu, which makes it so difficult when you have to please a little one. THE FOOD: We ordered a Base Caesar Salad with Chicken, BBQ Pizza, and a Roni Pizza. The Base Caesar Salad- we added chicken. This salad was SO plain. Not tasty at all, we asked for extra dressing twice and realized that the dressing wasn't helping at all. Just not tasty or any good flavoring at all. The Roni Pizza was VERY saucy and not enough cheese, no kid wants to eat sauce only, and we didn't either. We asked if they could add more cheese and were told no, due to sanitation.  The waitress offered to make another one, but it would be the same size, they had nothing smaller. We passed. BBQ Pizza, this pizza wasn't too bad.  We liked the brisket or beef on the pizza but felt like it was missing something, just not sure what it was.

THE DRINKS: I ordered a Modelo beer, in a cold glass, it seems that the bottles were warm, and the glass wasn't cold.  I returned it. I then ordered a margarita, not good either.  I could taste tap water in my margarita. I didn't complain and I did my best to finish it. Maybe it was the ice that was used. Not sure where the tap flavor came from. In the end, the waitress did comp the Roni Pizza and the salad. Although we didn't complain about the salad. But it was nice of her.  We did tip her according to the full bill.

We most likely won't be driving out to Base for a second chance, it's quite a drive...

We frequent "3 on Smith" in Arcadia as often as we can and love that restaurant. We have been meaning to try out the sister restaurant "Base Pizzeria" on 32nd and Lincoln so we had the opportunity to do that this evening. I have to say, we were duly impressed. Rosoe waited on us and, as always, is an exceptional host and gave exceptional service and attentiveness. We ordered drinks and we're pleased with the cozmo and Tito's mule we ordered. We ordered an appetizer with roasted veggies and a killer set of sauces to accompany the veggies.. I can seriously start to crave those flavors. Seriously. We then had the Sweet and Spicy pizza.. again, off the charts. The crust was perfectly balanced with moisture and toasty and a hint of saltiness. Plus it was the exact style I love of thin pizza crust. The toppings were a tomato and sausage (sausage made in-house) based style with mild jalapenos chopped on top. I have to say, it was amazing. Love love love. We had good wines with the meal, BR Cohn Cab and a super Tuscan. We finished off with a huge slice of the pavlova.. an Australian comfort food dessert that is layers of toasted meringue and whipped cream topped with a berry sauce. OMG!!! It was absolutely amazing.. how did I live without that delicious goodness? Okay, this place is my new go-to.. and they home make all their foods and get their food stocks locally. Everybody.. this is Arcadia's best...

The owners, Meg, Daniel, and David could not have been nicer. They really want to be sure everyone has a great experience. The gave us great advice on choices of drinks, salad, pizzas, and dessert. Meg was our server, but the other servers seemed just as motivated and were noticeably hard working. And, when our dessert took to long to arrive ( we didn't really notice, she comped it. I saw her do the same when the pizza was delayed at the table next to ours. Now the food. The salad was creative and delicious. The apps were generous portions and outstanding. The pizzas, OMG, the crust and sauce were exceptional. Then the cheese.... home run!!!! They used fresh burrata on the white pizza we ordered (the sophia lauren - half of their pizzas are white). They use white cheddar on the red cheese pizza (we are vegetarian) and were happy to add roasted garlic at our request. Finally, save room for dessert! The blueberry cobbler arrived in a skillet, bubbling hot, and with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Incredible, and more than enough to share. The table next to us ordered the sticky toffee. It looked similar to the cobbler, bubbling hot al a mode, and they said it was delicious. I was only in phoenix for one night, but if longer I would have gone again! I will be sure to visit base when I am...

Our experience falls short of justifying the amount of money we spent; if I could give 3.5ish stars, I would. The space is cute & they have a nice outdoor patio area which we enjoyed. The customer service was wishy washy, our starters were good, our pizza was good. We had the artisan bread & mixed olives then we each had our own pizza. What could have been done differently? We should have shared the pizza but didnt realize how big they actually were. Make sure you know what time they close (9pm on a Friday night) because they will essentially kick you out, telling you it's time to go & don't order a drink too close to that time unless you intend to chug your wine or beer. That being said, in lieu of them serving us our last drink they would have better served us by letting us know they close at 9 so we could decide if we really wanted another drink. In short, $200 is too much for pizza & drinks only to be kicked out at 9, lesson learned.
