Update I truly hate coming to this location. Why is it policy that we can’t drive through to pick up mobile orders. Understandable if I was Uber or door dash but personal orders???? All coffee shops typically allow mobile order pick ups to be done in the drive through. Now I’m stuck in this line waiting to get through so I can park. Finally get through and there is nobody in the shop or drive thru any more and the three employees are just standing there.
I love Black Rock and was so excited to finally get one in Laveen. Today we went to go have a quick coffee and just enjoy the new location. Inside was freezing, which I’m sure it not the norm because of the weather being cooler, so we sat outside. My toddler dropped my key fob down the umbrella hole. The plastic piece that was place holder until their umbrellas are in was on the ground. My husband went inside to get help and was told they have nothing. Walked across the street to ace hardware and the lady working there trying to save us money took apart their store broom gave me their store tape. So thank you ACE for your star employee. Unfortunately the key is stuck in the bottom really good and we can’t pull it out. The Assistant Manager comes out and says I called maintenance buts it’s going to be several hours you can leave and come back. I said I can’t leave we have no other car key. We have no way to get into the house. My baby is poopy and I can’t change him. I didn’t grab his bag because we only thought we would be there for ten minutes. She goes well this is above my level and I can’t do anything more. At the time I had zero idea she was an ASM. Now knowing this I’m so so shocked by her nonchalant behavior and response. I was an ASM/SM for Starbucks and that response as an ASM shows me that she should be in training for a much much longer time because as and ASM you ARE the manager and can pretty much do as much as a SM with clearly limited responsibilities in role. Such as calling the DM and looping them in to get maintenance out faster. Sympathy goes such a long way and I just don’t feel like any compassion when she spoke to me and said it’s above her level and then proceeded to continue to take orders. Heck even baby baristas can be empowered to go above and beyond to give excellent customer service. I also need to forewarn everyone this could happen to them only two tables actually had the plastic pieces on. Another thing is black rock is so concerned about their tables so the tables at bolted down and welded off. They need to take a look around none of the Starbucks in this area have umbrellas. Wonder why? 🤔 because they get stolen. So then if they get stolen they again have a huge long empty hole in the table. It’s just poor planning and execution. Anyways, called my son he snuck out of school came and got us and we got a bunch of other items to try and get the key unstuck and after 20 minutes my husband finally got it unstuck and used a super strong magnet to grab the key ring and get it pulled out. Anyways I still love the roast quality of Black Rock beans and it won’t keep up away from...

Read moreAbsolutely appalled by what I experienced Friday morning 9/19 at this location. I decided to go inside for once and I was approached in the parking lot by a woman who asked if I had spare change or a drink. I'd rather help someone out with food so I offered her to come inside with me and I'd buy her a coffee drink. I ordered my drinks and she ordered hers and I added a food item for her. As I was about to pay, she kindly asked the associate if she could use their restroom. Another associate came up and said "you need to buy something" to which I calmly responded "oh she's with me I'm paying right now." There was a moment of silence and shock on the associates face. Then a second male associate rudely said something, to the woman I was helping, along the lines of "you come in here all the time" but I didn't hear the rest as I was busy paying. But his response must have ultimately meant "no" as she was not granted access to the restroom.
How is this fair? One associate stated the conditions of gaining access to the restroom. Restroom is for paying customers which is understandable. I met those requirements. Another associate is now making up new rules and treating this woman like she is beneath him?
One of the biggest reasons I support Black Rock Coffee is because of the good they state they do via their website. "From the start, Black Rock has been about more than coffee. We’re about people. We care deeply about the communities we serve, whether that’s through local fundraising, in-store Give Back Days, or partnerships with causes close to our hearts."
I have had 20+ years in customer service and in some of the most heavily populated homeless areas. I know what it's like to have repeat people coming in asking for something. I obviously don't know what the associates at this location deal with on a daily basis from open to close. But, it costs nothing except a few seconds to be kind and treat someone as a human being.
When my order was ready, I could tell how uncomfortable one of the associates was with how their co-workers handled the situation by how she thanked me when I was leaving with my drinks.
And after the way the woman I was helping was treated here, she still helped one of the associates by holding the door open as she was bringing in product from here car.
At the end of the day, we are all people no matter what our situations are. This behavior was unexceptable and should...
