First and foremost I don’t want to bash any hard-working people or restaurant that deserves credibility I’m simply here explaining my experience especially for the first time. I’ve been hearing about Mandys Fish and chips over on 51st Ave. and baseline for quite a while now. I was on the verge of going to Pete’s Fish and chips when I said to myself... “I have the time let me go to Mandys over in Laveen”. Driving from Tolleson. 25 mins later....
From the moment I walked in I felt like it was all about quantity not quality. Here’s why... Number one I felt like I was being rushed into my order by the cashier as she was very irritable from the gate! I didn’t even have time to look at the menu properly. I felt like the cashier was simply trying to push me to order quickly as if I knew what was already on the menu. So I ordered the cod shrimp and chips special for 9.95 because that is literally the first thing that I saw on their menu. After 15 minutes of waiting. I received my order and I got to say that I was really disappointed in what I got. The Cod I received was so soggy that the batter literally melt it off. There was no crunchy tenderness whatsoever. However the fries were decent and the shrimp was OK but a little bit overcooked.
Again this is just my experience. I personally probably won’t go back and I’m sure that’s OK with the restaurant. But any words of encouragement that I can give to the staff. Number one don’t rush your customers into ordering... maybe start off by asking them if they’ve ever been to your restaurant before and recommending some of your best options.
Secondly staff needs to understand they are representing your brand of fish and chips and anything they do is a direct reflection of Mandys!
When people go there they want their fish crispy and crunchy. That was the poorest representation of cod fish and chips that I’ve ever experience. And believe me I’ve had some in Mexico that were way better. I know it could’ve been the chef personally and not the branding of the owner him or herself. But there’s got to be some accountability somewhere. Cooks should follow protocols and if food does not come out right to expectations of the restaurant and your branding then you should not serve it. I would’ve gladly waited an additional 10 minutes for A crispy beer battered cod basket.
I hope this constructive criticism helps your staff serve the quality of your expectations in the future. I gave two stars for the simple fact that I appreciate your concept and your...
Read morearrived at 1055 am and the doors didnt get opened until 1115 am. two couples were waiting besides me, one of the couples left and went next door to Barros pizza and the other just left all together. I have been coming here for years and had moved out of state so this was one of the first places i decided to stop at once I got back. So i waited but as i waited I made a review about my experience and the owner decided to come out and question me as to why i would leave a review. Um because thats my business to do so, you should open for your customers that support your business at the time posted not come to my car to chastise me about how you came all the way from north phx. and I felt that the right thing and grown man thing would have been to come out and apologize and thank me for waiting. His attitude was horrible and decided to tell me that me leaving a review showed what type of person I was, umm yeah an honest person. He then proceeded to lie and respond to my review saying he opened at 11 which was not true, Lets see what he will respond this time, I deleted my original comment but after thinking about it i decided to repost it. I will never patronize this business again. and I will tell everyone about this expericnce. You felt the need to walk up on my car but I can guarantee that If my husband was with me you wouldnt...
Read moreUpdate: This wasn’t a customer error at all. There was another customer ahead of me at the Avondale location who was also on the phone with you because their online order had a pickup location in Laveen. Clearly, your website sent the order to the wrong place. You agreed to refund me the first time I called, and you assured me again when I followed up 17 days later. Now you're saying I won't get my refund. As a manager or owner, you should be ashamed how you run your business. I experienced a challenge with my online order, as it was incorrectly sent to a pickup location in Laveen instead of the Avondale location I selected. I reached out to Vanessa at the Laveen location, who acknowledged that this had been an issue for other customers as well. She mentioned that she processed a refund for my order, and I waited the full 15 days, thinking that would be enough time to receive it. However, on the 17th day, I called to follow up, as I had not yet received the refund. She did nothing to help me. I called my Credit Card company to confirm any pending refunds, but there was nothing. So I really don't know what to make...
