I thoroughly enjoy eating the food here. It is always fresh, hot (or cold depending on what you order), and flavorful. I only order Pho Ga (chicken Pho) and vegetarian spring rolls, but my fiancee has had multiple dishes including Pho Tai Gao (eye round and brisket Pho), beef vermicelli salad, fried and soft noodle combinations with beef/chicken/pork/shrimp, and the regular pork and shrimp spring rolls. I have not had an issue with my food being cooked wrong or over spiced/bland, but my fiancee has had an issue with bad shrimp in one of the dishes he ordered. It only happened one time, so I give Pho Avina 4 stars since I've eaten here at least 20 times without any other issues. I did detract the 5th star for some of the service we have received there as well. A few times out of the 20 we had a young lady serve us who did not seem to be very happy with working there, but it could have been an off day for her. I have worked in the restaurant industry and man does it get bad sometimes. Other than that, this is my go-to place for Pho/other viet cooking. It is decent for the price. I have had other good Pho at another place, but the service was so terrible that I just don't go there anymore. I wish I had a photo of food to put in this post. I may edit later on tonight since we are...
Read moreWhen I frequented this side of town, this was one of my favorite restaurants to visit. Their yellow curry was really amazing and their food is always reasonably priced.
It had been a few years since I had eaten here when I went back and had a little bit of a different experience than what I am use to. Since I've been back they have re-done their menu which is a little bit confusing to navigate. The waiting staff we had was slow and took an exceptionally long time to bring us our check, even though I could see she was just standing behind the counter talking with a coworker.
It was a little weird when the presumable owner or manager decided to berate one of his employees for dress code in front of the entire restaurant instead of discussing in the back or an office like a professional would. Very uncomfortable to watch while you're waiting for your food.
The yellow curry is still good, but they have changed the ingredients because it now leaves your mouth horribly stained yellow when you eat it.
Based on this last experience alone, their score would have been much lower, but I have eaten here many times in the past and was always pleased.Maybe this one time I went back was just a fluke because they are usually very good, but our last trip certainly did not live up to their...
Read moreCalled to order take out and asked for Pho with veggie broth, vegetables and tofu. When I got there to pick it up, they said “p2 with no meat?” and handed me beef broth with no tofu and no veggies. I told them that I ordered veggie broth with veggies and tofu. They asked for clarification several times and then went back into the kitchen to let the chef know to re make my order. When it was done, they handed it to me saying “veggie broth” and I double checked with them asking if there was tofu. The woman behind the counter said “yes veggie broth with veggies and tofu”. When I got it home I opened it up only to see beef broth with no tofu and a side of overcooked veggies. Extremely disappointed as I left a tip in appreciation for them remaking my order even though it was their mistake. It seems as if they just put the original one right back in the bag. Beyond that, the restaurant itself was filthy. Dust and dirt everywhere. I will not be eating what I came home with. Pho Avina was highly recommended to me but I will not...
