I was born in Mexico and have lived in Arizona since I was 8. My family and I have never found a restaurant that comes close to real Mexican food in Arizona. I lived in Vegas for nearly 4 years and I did find a few places with really good Mexican food but I never have in AZ. So I found this place by simply passing it a few times, the first thing that caught my attention was the name and then I saw the restaurant inside while driving by and it looked pleasing. It looked colorful, CLEAN and busy. So I didn't get to go and try it until last night and I was completely floored. I ordered a carne asada torta and was shocked at how good it was. By far the best Mexican food I've had in AZ. It was my first visit though so I will be going back to try other food. My friend ordered the super nachos and the only complaint I would say there was about the nachos is that it was missing (pretty much entirely) the NACHO CHEESE. But I had such a great and savory experience with the torta that it didn't disappoint me. If I ever do order the nachos I'll just make sure to remind them about the cheese. Another thing that really surprised me was the fresh waters. They had plenty of flavors and when I was ordering I asked the guy if they were made with real ingredients or if it was just concentrate. He said that they were made with fresh ingredients and even though I always do hesitate when I'm trying a new Mexican restaurant because a lot of time people lie. And I cannot stress enough how important even just the waters are. In Mexico they truly taste amazing! They have a lot of flavor and you can taste the fresh ingredients. It makes such a difference. Well I ordered the lime flavored one and it was delicious! I can't wait to go again. There's so many things I want to try. They sell ice cream, sweet bread, and so many Mexican treats and of course all the different dishes. But I have to admit that if their sweet bread is anything close to the sweet bread my siblings and I had as kids in Mexico I will probably just die. Sorry for the long review but I am truly ecstatic that I found this place! :D
I should also add that everything in my meal was fresh which is always a HUUUUGE plus...
Read moreBeen to the restaurant a few times over the years but never posted a review. I found out about this restaurant because their sister company was Paquime on central (permanently closed). I really loved Paquime, now Tortas Paquime is very similar. Today we tried the pescados tacos combo and the birria tacos. Also we added the frutas agua fresca. Fish tacos had a nice crunch, even with the tomatoes and sauce just missed a little bit of seasoning. The Birria sauce was good and the Birria tacos were nice and cheesy. The surprise was the frutas (mixed fruit) agua fresca. Great tasting, really brought me back to my childhood. Imagine the neighborhood Morel paleta trolley man ringing his cart bell. It was like having a strawberry and watermelon paleta that had melted and merged together after sitting in a cup . Definitely my favorite item of the visit. For being such a small restaurant they have a ton of options: Tacos, burritos,Tortas, nacho fries, agua fresca, ice cream...
Read moreI order food off of uber eats for me to pick up. I order tortha and a burrito de mole. We went there to pick up our food and drove home. They were out of mole apparently and put a carne asada burrito instead. When I got home, I realized it was the wrong burrito I called them and they stated that they were out of mole. So they just decided to put a carne asada burro instead. I asked the the employee over the phone, why they did not ask us if we wanted a different kind of burrito, when we picked up the food so we could at least pick what we like and want. She stated the cook just decided to put another burrito. We asked to talk to the manager, they hung up the phone. I drove back automatically. The manager had attitude as if it was our fault stating that it's not their fault, they informed uber that they where out of mole with unnecessary...
