Taquearte California - Pico Rivera, CA
I finally had the chance to try Taquearte California in Pico Rivera, and I must say, all the hype surrounding this place is absolutely on point. I opted for takeout, and even though the experience was great overall, there are a few things to keep in mind.
First off, the staff here is friendly, though itâs clear theyâre a bit overwhelmed with work. This might be due to the recent surge in popularity, which they may not have fully anticipated. As a result, the lines can be long, and the wait times can be a bit extended, especially during peak hours. Seating is also limited, so if you're planning to dine in, expect a bit of a wait to snag a table.
But let's get to the good stuffâthe food! Itâs absolutely excellent, bursting with flavors and offering something different from your typical Mexican fare. The Steak and Egg Chilaquiles, both Verdes and Rojos, were outstanding. The ChicharrĂłn De Queso was a delightful treat, and the Campechanos Taco, with its generous portion of meat and chorizo, quickly became my favorite. Just a heads upâthe Campechanos Taco are huge, so one might be plenty for a meal.
If you're in the area, I highly recommend giving Taquearte California a try. The food is like good home cooking with a twist, and despite the wait, it's...
Read moreI finally had the opportunity to visit Taquearte CA. It was too late in the afternoon to get what I want to try for breakfast since it was after 4pm when I got here. Nonetheless, I decided to take a chance and try a single taco de Bistec with melted grilled cheese, nopalez, potato, on a flour tortillas. It was little pricey for what I thought I was going to get...until they brought it out. O.....M....G!!!!!!
This thing was huge! I was looking for the bistec and then found that they literally put an entire piece of what I assume to be Carne asada. I was skeptical thinking the meat would be stringy and chewy. They brought out a tray of different salsas and limes and it was time to dive in. O...M...G!!!!
This was hands down one of...if not THE best taco I have ever had in my life...seriously!! It was packed with flavor and the steak was soft and delicious. The potato and nopalez were a nice addition that enhanced the experience.
They have plenty of indoor seating and great service in a casual setting. I also, of course, had to pick up some of the delicious pan dulce from Duran's Bakery next door. I can't wait to come back and try their Chilaquiles...
Read moreI already posted it on Yelp for my people to be AWARE! The food 6/10 this because they leave the food with excessive grease you can see the cooking oil literally on the tortilla and the plate is noticeable⌠but my mayor issue with this place is when I paid, the card machine had a 25% TIP PRE SELECTED yes yes not the 10 not the 15 the 25%!!!!! by default without clearly telling me it was optional. If I hadnât caught it, I wouldâve tipped way more than I intended. This kind of setup is misleading and unfair. Itâs especially concerning for elderly customers or anyone not familiar with digital payment systems, who may not notice the preset tip and end up overpaying without realizing it!!!!!!!
Businesses should be transparent and respectful of all customers, especially those who are more vulnerable. I hope they fix this.
Also the cashier was drinking her coffee while taking orders, yes yes in the middle of the order and she got my...
