We’ve been here before and it’s been pretty average. We came back yesterday and ordered bbq sandwiches with dumplings Mac and cheese and baked beans. We also got a pound of ribs. We stopped to get a to go order to eat at cades cove while we enjoyed the view. After I ordered the blonde lady at the register stated she would bring it out to me…I informed her of what I was driving and had parked across from the ramp. I stepped back to the car and waited with my wife and the pups. 3-4 more people ordered and came through after us and started eating on the patio. After 20 minutes…working on 30 I walk back in with my receipt and see my food on the counter. The lady says oh here you go and hands me the food. I honestly don’t think I would’ve ever gotten it if I hadn’t went in. We parked to eat at cades cove. Dumplings were ehh. Beans were ehh. Mac and cheese was the best thing I tasted from the place. Ribs had smoke but really no flavor if you eat bbq regularly. Bbq sandwiches were pretty below to average. Thank God they put a neutral bbq sauce with the meats so we could douse it on there. I’m from the Carolina’s and I eat and smoke meat regularly and I would not recommend this place to anyone nor will I be going back. Maybe if you’ve never had bbq and you don’t have experience with it. But then again I would pass if I were you. To the owners or managers…put some more love in the food…waiters….stick to your word. As a cook you know what I...
Read moreMan! I was really excited to try this place. Our cabin reviews had several mentions that it was really good. We love to support local restaurants and I encourage you to also!
Unfortunately this missed the mark in a few areas during our visit.
Service was quick and super friendly!
It was $85 for a family of 5. It’s pretty expensive for what we got. We could have almost gone anywhere for that price.
The Brisket did not have much smoke and barely any crust or smoke ring.
The chopped pork was very bland. They have also been storing it in plastic wrap. In my opinion this provided an odd texture.
We ordered a plate of rolls. They were fresh and cold out the fridge.
The baked beans had a strange twang that was very off putting.
The kids tenders were really good. But not anything homemade. Really good ball park tenders.
I would expect a place that prides themselves on homemade award winning bbq not to use Ken’s Restaurant BBQ Sauce. A homemade sauce would have been a nice touch.
My wife LOVED a the turnips. She said she would have been happy with a big bowl of those!
Try this place out for yourselves. They have a lot of great reviews. So there’s something here. We did not walk about raving. We really...

Will make sure our friends / family know about Boss Hogg's BBQ..Very pup friendly, large nicely setup very well covered outdoor seating for most any weather. Country music playing. Plus quaint indoor seating. Can't say enough good things about this family owned eattery. Even homemade desserts. 🤩HUGE SHOUT OUT PLEASE GIVE THIS GUY A RAISE/PROMOTION ❤ Between 12:30-2pm the young man that took care of us was super helpful & accommodating. Have helpful area suggestions & checked on our needs very often. Great ambassador for Wears Valley Area. We were more than aggravated & tired of researching & driving Pigeon Forge/Gat Area for ANY PUP EATTERY!! All this time had no idea it was this close/ hidden gem will always stop there each yr when in the area. In Pigeon Forge Sevierville area the lack of hired help & discontinuation/ unmanned outdoor eating areas for families with even old friendly dogs has turned us off to that other heavy tourist area. Was last there in 2020, it's just not the same. Will now stay in Wear's Valley / Townsend 🌈👍.
Just because it's on Wears Valley Rd don't pass it up / only 10 min away if ur in the Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg areas 🏞 Much less traffic...
