This was my first time eating at Drakes in Pikeville and I wasn't as happy with the experience as I thought I would be but it still had a lot to offer. I have eaten at several Malones and I expected a more variety in the menu at Drakes. My son had told me Drakes had seafood but what they had was fried fish, salmon and a bunch of sushi. Only thing is I am not a sushi fan but I believe Drake's has one of the largest selections of sushi I have ever seen. So sushi lovers this place is for you! I was hoping for at the least some shrimp, I was dreaming of lobster, oysters, etc... But, snap back to reality, no lobster, no oysters. ๐Ÿ˜• Let me just say it's a shame a person has to drive 2 hours away to Lexington to get oysters at a restaurant. Sooo what I settled for was the griddle-seared chicken and it was just, well chicken. There just wasn't anything to write home about. The taste was weak and sorta bland but on a positive side the chicken was tender as you could hope for. So enough of the negatives, what were the goods?! The appetizers were awesome and so was the bread and the butter with chives was excellent! The appetizers were the warm pretzels with cheese sauce and mustard. Excellent! Two big thumps up!!๐Ÿ˜ The other appetizer was the Sriracha Wings and my son was very happy with them, they were not greasy but seemed to have a dry rub so two big thumbs up for this appetizer as well! It came with dip and stalks of celery so I took them and added them to my BL Salad making it a BLC...๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ My son's entree was steak, with two orders of fries, no shocker there. I have to brag on my son for a sec, even at the worldly age of almost 17 my son has a rich history of steak knowkedge. Be it at Malone's, Tony's, Jeff Ruby's. Texas Roadhouse or The Outback (which has lobster, just saying)my boy knows steak. From Kentucky down to Florida or Kentucky up to Ohio my son has gathered an impressive rolodex of steak experience. So what did he think of the steak at Drake's? Drumroll..... He loved it! His steak which was the Malone's Prime Ribeye which was cooked medium rare was perfect, my son was very happy! With the price of $66.00 it should be perfect andvhe should be happy...lol One good thing about the steak dinner it comes with a BLT Salad which is like the Lexingtonian House Salad at Malone's. However my son is not a fan of salads so good ole dad got it by default but without the tomatoes. Darn allergies. Finally I have to brag on our waitress or server whose name was Emily J, two big ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ up!! She kept the drinks flowing and the good times rolling and she was always checking on us! Very helpful and knowledgeable! Speaking of the drinks, being a connoisseur of carbonated drinks I chose the 2024 Mello Yellow, a very fine year with a lovely drop while my son had the 2024 Coke, which had a fine sweetness to it๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ Just to note Drake's has an amazing selection of drinks from wine to beer to soda! Huge selection, well done! To wrap it up Drakes has a cool vibe, modern seattings and tables, with foot rests (very cool) Loved the leaning Salad bowl!! The tables for two however needs to be a little bigger when they brought all the food there wasn't enough room so I had to sacrifice my BLC salad. I would love to see a more diverse menu at Drakes in the seafood sekection, get those shrimp and oysters and I will be back. The final cost was 135.20 plus 29% tip at 30.00 So the total all together 165.20 for two. Pricey but we knew ahead of time what it would probably be. I think Drakes will do very well in Pikeville. With all the medical people in Pikeville I'm sure the target audience is business folks doctors, nurses, attorneys and the like. And at 165.20 for two it sure would help to be a doctor or lawyer...lol It also seems to be bringing in the 20-30 year old crowd. I wish them much success keep the economy growing!!

This place is well taken care of. Beautifully decorated and relaxing atmosphere. Our waiter was top tier. He accommodated everything down to clumsy messes with a smile on his face. Had no bad interactions with anyone. This was a first for us and we really enjoyed visiting here. My mom and I shared sandwiches to get a variety of tastes since we werenโ€™t sure what to order. I got the Patty Melt and I ordered mom the Chicken Sandwich. We both preferred the Patty Melt. The chicken was deep fried but massive. We felt that the chicken sandwich was too heavy for us. Not the balance for a meal at that time for our food choice. It is a really good sandwich though. The patty melt had fresh meat which we loved. Mom got the sweet potatoes waffles fries and so did my nephew and they were so good! My nephew loved his chicken sandwich (teens). My sister enjoyed her buffalo chicken sandwiches. My son could not put down his grilled cheese. He loved his tater tots. I got the original fries and I wish they had a tad less salt on them otherwise great. Mom got the pink lemonade and wasnโ€™t a big fan. I tried it and it did not hit the spot. I ordered a peach sweet tea which my mom and son loved. Little man had to have his own. My nephew had three Mr. Pibbs and enjoyed the cookie alamo. We will be returning and exploring more of the menu and re ordering that peach sweet tea. It doesnt out beat Pig in a Pokes tea but itโ€™s still good.

Overall, we are thrilled! Finally having a good restaurant option in the neighborhood ๐Ÿ™Œ . Best sushi in the county, if not the region. Drinks are good, service is friendly and timely, albeit they appropriately staffed up with members with experience to back up the new servers. Burgers are amazing, the steak however, misses the mark at this price point, and the kitchen seemed to miss medium rare by miles. Newly opened expect 45 min weight and since no reservations are being accepted (you will have to wait in the parking lot bar to be seated.) Fairly frenic sports bar atmosphere might be a little much for an intimate date. Still, highly enjoyed the whole experiences enough to go several times since opening.

We've been to Drake's almost every week since they opened. Until this past week, everything was wonderful and we were thrilled to have a good dinner option in Pikeville.

This last week has been horrible!!! We waited over an hour for a quesadilla and tacos. It wasn't busy either, the restaurant was maybe 40% full. When we finally got our food, it was cold and we were missing an order of fries. The bartender apologized and said the kitchen had been slow all day and said she would ask for it to be remade. We ended up waiting another 40 minutes to get our food and it was barely warm. I felt sorry for our bartender. She kept going to the kitchen checking for our food and then running food for other tables. Meanwhile other servers were waiting around in corners looking at their phones and talking while our bartender was running their food.

We ended up finding out that the corporate trainers had left the week before. Apparently, the poor food service and quality has been the norm since they left. I've talked to other people that have went to Drake's this past week and everyone has had horrible experiences, including food taking a long time, servers ignoring their tables and literally giving each other piggyback rides instead of doing their jobs, and the restaurant being dirty. Corporate needs to come back in and straighten this situation out. The same staff was capable of giving good service two weeks ago, but not this past week? Sadly, I doubt Drake's will stay in business long if they can't have good food...
