Talk about a terrible experience that has led to a week full of headache with no resolve by management or the Texas Road House Corporate Headquarters. I have offered to not make this post and have gave corporate long enough to resolve the issue and still nothing has been done.
My 15 year old stepdaughter was a patron at the Pikeville Texas Roadhouse in Pikeville this past Saturday (08/24/24) where she was on a first date with a 16 year old young man. While dining here, my stepdaughter was assaulted and made a spectacle of by an 18 year old adult female waitress who saw fit to make contact with my stepdaughter without any coercion by approaching her and her date by asking them if there was a problem. My stepdaughterâs date replied there was no problem. My stepdaughter did not acknowledge the employee and did not respond to her attempts to entice her to react in some way. The adult waitress then proceeded to insinuate there must be a problem because she felt as if my stepdaughter and her date were staring at her. When her date assured her they were not starring, the waitress then proceeded to flip the basket of rolls that had just been placed on their table, up into my stepdaughterâs face, covering her in the butter and grease and the waitress was allowed to continue to work her shift as normal with no repercussions.
After my stepdaughter had informed us of what had happened, her father contacted police and made the trip to Pikeville to speak to the manager, Jamie. I called and asked to speak to management and Jamie offered us the âcomfortâ of a discount and different seating assignment. I asked him if that was all he was going to do to which he replied, âwhat else do you want me to do?â Dumbfounded by the lack of compassion or concern I was literally at a loss for words and told him we would see what the police had to say about it.
Upon her fatherâs arrival and the arrival of the Pikeville City police, the waitress had told the story that my stepdaughter and her date had been staring at her, prompting her to react by assaulting my stepdaughter. The officer reviewed the footage and did acknowledge the incident did in fact occur but told us any charges âwould probably be dismissedâ due to my stepdaughter not being physically harmed. After the officer conducted his questioning with the waitress, she was allowed to go back to work as if nothing happened. No charges for disorderly conduct, assault, literally the employee got away scot-free. During this time, the manager then proceeded to go back to my stepdaughterâs table, without any accompanying supervision, sat down and asked my 15 year old stepdaughter âI thought we had this taken care of?â My stepdaughter told us he seemed to be intimidating her, I guess hoping she would tell us to drop things. Later, we learned from another deputy that any adult would need consent and supervision when speaking to a minor, again showcasing the lack of professionalism by management at this location.
We all know eastern Kentucky is limited in dining options and that Texas Roadhouse on a Saturday evening is always busy and packed and my stepdaughter was literally made a spectacle of by this childish act and will have to deal with the psychological damage caused by this for who knows how long as this was witnessed by who knows how many people.
After her father contacted headquarters, we were told that they âunfortunatelyâ could not do anything but they would reach out to the owner of the Pikeville location and have them contact us. Her father was contacted from a member of management at the Pikeville location this evening, not the owner, and informed us that the employee had been suspended. Last I checked, employees should act in a professional manner as they are a reflection of the business and the waitress and management that night weâre definitely anything but professional. Just know if you dine at Texas Roadhouse in Pikeville they obviously donât care to degrade you by throwing food on you and see no problem with...
Read moreAfter visiting our family cemetery and an elderly relative in the Pikeville area on June 22nd, my three adult daughters and I wanted to get an early dinner before the long drive back to Louisville.
We stopped in at the Pikeville Texas Roadhouse (TR) to eat and were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we were seated, given the large number of cars already in the parking lot. Because the restaurant was quite busy with customers our waitress was a little slow bringing drinks and taking our order, but we certainly understood and appreciated that she was doing her best. Three of us ordered steaks and one of my daughters ordered the smothered chicken.
That daughter specifically asked the waitress if the onions on the smothered chicken were very well cooked through because she has an issue with undercooked onions. The waitress assured her repeatedly that they were very well cooked and it wouldn't be a problem. Famous last words, I guess. Because when the food came out, it came as little surprise to me that the onions were, in fact, underdone. My daughter was able to remove them fairly easily and enjoyed the rest of her meal.
I had ordered the 12 oz Fort Worth ribeye cooked medium. I cut my steak before the waitress left the table only to find that it was very well done. And I brought to her attention that it was significantly overcooked from what I ordered, at which point she agreed and asked me if I would like them to re-cook the steak. I advised her that I did want to have the steak re-cooked. She removed the steak with baked potato from the table and my daughters all began to eat while their food was hot. The other two steaks were cooked exactly as ordered, one a medium rare, the other a medium.
Eventually my new steak came to the table, I cut it, and again it was well done. I was incredibly disappointed, as I had been the one to specifically suggest going to Texas Roadhouse, as I was looking forward to having a steak after such an emotional day.
At this point everyone else had finished eating and was going to be watching me eat my steak before the long drive back home. I advise the waitress that I was not going to eat the steak as it was not in a condition for me to be able to do so, but that we also didn't have time for a third attempt at cooking it. She sent over a manager and the manager advised me that they would remove the steak from our bill.
I mistakenly believed that that meant my meal would be credited, as I had been significantly inconvenienced. Yes, I ate my side salad and half of my baked potato before we left. When I looked at the bill I saw that the entire meal had not been credited. When I asked the manager if there was some sort of discrepancy, she advised me that I had eaten the side items and only the steak itself had been credited to our bill. My entire dining experience was negatively impacted by having to send my steak back and then having it come out for the second time still cooked incorrectly (the manager agreed that the cook was still very overdone). She did not see it that way.
I believe that the entire meal should have been credited to the account. VERY DISAPPOINTED that this manager was unable to understand that situation. We will be back in the area this fall to once again visit our family cemetery and my uncle. We will NOT be patronizing this restaurant that does not recognize and prioritize the entire dining experience of its customers. A steakhouse that does not understand how to cook a steak, is not a steakhouse I want to eat at, and would never recommend to anyone else. Moreover, we are not 'difficult' customers and this experience was very unpleasant. We didn't make a scene, and the bill was paid in full.
Kent Taylor was all about the customer experience at his restaurants. My family eats at Texas Roadhouse in Louisville (where the chain headquarters is located) regularly. The Pikeville store seriously needs some instruction on customer service. I hope, for the sake of their local clientele, they...
Read moreI normally do not write reviews as it never crosses my mind to, however, Iâm writing one on here to inform everyone of my latest experience with Texas Roadhouse beacuse I could not reach them by phone call. On Sunday evening (at around 4) me and my mom went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner after running some errands at walmart. The place was packed but we were starved because we hadnât had anything else to eat yet that day. When we entered the building we were seated pretty fast and our host/server was great. Our server got our drinks and asked for our order as soon as we sat down. Me and my mom got the usual, two waters, a cactus blossom, the complimentary basket of rolls, and two 6 oz sirloins. She ordered hers well done and I ordered mine medium rare, as Iâve done since I was a kid. I have never had a negative experience at this Texas Roadhouse, however, when I received my steak it seemed to be cooked rather odd. The outside of the steak looked perfect, but when I cut into it I could tell it was not cooked right. There was a grey ring around the outside of the steak and a pink ring in the center. Iâm not an expert on steaks, and assumed the cooks knew what they were doing, so I cut into it and took a bite. I had less than half of my steak and set the rest aside. On Sunday night I started to experience nausea and blew it off as maybe I had eaten too much. However, yesterday morning I was struck with back and stomach pains that were so bad that I couldnât even stand up. I was seen at Pikeville Medical Center later that day and was deemed sepsis because my white blood count was 15 when the normal amount should be 11. After admitting me to the hospital and releasing me early this morning, I seen my primary doctor as a follow up. Come to find out that my steak was not cooked properly and I contracted E.Coli or a similar virus which caused my stomach and bowels to be so infected that I started to go into sepsis. Iâm not saying that I couldnât have been at fault because I ordered the steak medium rare, however I have never ordered a medium rare steak and contracted a stomach infection this bad. I have been vomiting since yesterday morning and have not been able to eat anything. Texas Roadhouse please learn to cook your steaks to the proper internal temperate because I am miserable. Or make sure your steaks arenât expired. Other than contracting literal E.Coli, the staff was great and our waitress was wonderful, however I will not be coming back. I also fell and busted my knee on your slick floors so maybe get that...
