I'm a Diamond member and normally do not make negative reviews, but feel this one is justified. This was a reschedule from a trip I had to cancel due to schedule change while in SC during Hurrican Ian. This hotel charged me for the cancellation I made 2 days before the stay. It was a 5 day cancellation reservation, but because of Ian, I assumed they would honor it and give a credit.
I placed a claim through Hilton several weeks ago. After returning home from this stay, I followed up on the claim and was told by Hilton that the hotel denied the claim. I would have stayed at another facility had I known they would not honor the claim. Hilton is taking care of it by sending a check, but I'm highly disappointed that the management at Hampton Clearwater Ulmerton Road denied the claim. I waited to cancel because I was in the path of Ian in SC the week before and wasn't sure when or where it would hit. I waited until it was clear my trip in SC would be extended due to Ian and that I wouldn't be able to make the trip to FL. Cancelling was was not negligence on my part.
Also, they must be short handed for front desk help. As a Diamond member, I stay at Hampton and other Hilton hotels often. I've never experienced a time when someone wasn't at the front desk to help. Or, if they were gone, there was a bell to ring or something similar. Not here.
A sign that said the following was posted. I have a picture and this is an exact quotation (sorry to be nitpicky, but it was not grammatically correct). "Front Desk is assisting guest. I will return shortly." I was on a tight schedule and needed to print a document for a meeting. The printer was not working and I went to the front desk and saw the sign. (It was not the first time I'd seen the sign. One time I observed a person patiently waiting for assistance who finally walked away. ) I went back and spent several minutes trying to see if I could fix the printer problem, but could not. I returned to the front desk and someone was there. I asked about the printer and she said, "Oh, that printer doesn't work. You should have been told about that. I apologize." I suggested she put a sign on the printer and she agreed that was a good idea. When I left the next day, nothing was noted on the printer.
I was never treated rudely. But the caring service I've experienced at other Hilton facilities was definitely lacking here. All else met normal expectations. The facility was clean and the...
Read moreWe checked in Friday the 26-Sunday the 28th of July 2019. First we were in room 312 and the A/c wasn’t working so well but I let it slide because the point of the trip was to go to the parks so we would only be in the rooms to shower and sleep. However, Saturday night we had a cockroach crawling around the microwave (we didn’t have any food in the room) and so I called front desk and they sent the maintenance man to kill the roach (which he did) but at that point I was paranoid and asked to switch rooms. The front desk said it “traveled with us” which it did not. I don’t have those where I live. When we got to our new room (502) I wanted to shower because I felt gross thanks to the cockroach. After we showered the water wouldn’t close so when I went to call front desk the phone wouldn’t work either. I had to call from my personal cell phone and then front desk lady came to Check it out and couldn’t turn off the water so she sent the maintenance man to come fix it. He was here till late at night. I fell asleep at 10 pm and he was still here but I felt bad for my boyfriend who stayed up until he was finished which was like 11/11:30 and he was exhausted already from the park. It was NOT a good experience and I’m very disappointed. I always stay at Hamptons but this will be my last.
Updated after speaking with the manager “Paul” he was very attentive and showed he cared about the situation. He explained he wasn’t working that particular weekend but that he was going to follow up on the situation. I didn’t think he actually would but then later that night he actually called me back to my personal cellphone and explained to me the process he had done to fix the situation and was working on getting me a refund. I have to say he went out of his way to right the wrongs. The fact that he called back showed he actually cared and he explained to me the procedures that they will take in the future to prevent that from happening. Just based on his genuine care about our stay made me come back and change my 1star to a 3 star and like I promised him, I will give Hamptons another chance! Maybe not that particular Hampton but I won’t cut them off for good!...
Read moreThis was the worst hotel stay ever. I was down for business for a week and never got a good nights sleep. The first night was the night of the Alabama and Clemson championship and was woke up to fans running through the halls screaming and yelling, knocking on doors at 2am. The 2nd night was even worse as the hotel is right by the airport and UPS and FedEx planes deliver packages in the wee hours of the morning. On my third night I purchased ear plugs and took Sominex and fell asleep. My last night with this hotel was Thursday and at 9pm I endured barking and howling by a dog or dogs on our floor. I call the front desk and they tell me its a service dog and the only reason it is there as the hotel is not pet friendly. After an hour of barking and howling and several complaints the gentleman comes up on the floor to see what is wrong and I tell him the dog is alone and if a service dog should always be with the owner. He knocked on the door but no answer, he said I can move your room and I accepted as I had to get up the next morning. He moves my room to the 1st floor, all good right? NO! I go in the room and come out and tell him the room smells bad, what in the world? He states there are no more rooms available so I tell myself just get through the night and then your out of here. Eventually I fall asleep and WAKE UP TO SOMETHING crawling on me. I turn on the lights and roaches are scattering every where. I say they are not going to believe me and I grabbed my phone and took a picture of what I could. I run out to the front desk screaming about the bugs on me and she didn't even seem surprised. I tell her the room is disgusting and it smells, she tells me yes the previous people were there for the football game and threw up everywhere and they tried to bleach it with no avail. 2am I get moved to another room and stay up the rest of the night. I go down to check out and am met with a $741 bill for the week!!! LIVID!! The only response is we will remove the cost of the room for last night. DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT stay at...
