I've given them three tries. I really wanted to like the place because the old airport variety store had such great sandwiches. It's been very disappointing. Their stuffed potatoes are freezer burned. I've ordered them three separate times and each time they tasted like they'd been kept in the freezer uncovered for months. This made me not want to try the empanada or deviled craps. When you tell somebody about it they look at you like you're crazy. They had no idea what I was talking about. The cuban sandwiches were usually pretty good, but this last time it appears they've decided to cut costs. The sandwiches had half the meat they usually do. They were pressed poorly too, because the bread was barely warm and the insides were ice cold. Nowhere near the picture on the menu. The final straw was the chicharrones. We've ordered them several times and usually we have to ask three times to get them to cut them up for us. They cut them for us no problem this time, but they tasted rotten. We tried to tell them they were bad and we were told "that's how they were supposed to taste." Well if their chicharrones are supposed to taste like rot, then count me out of...
Read moreUmmmm...like Cuban food, like Mexican food? Like to save money? Skip the trip into Tampa and come here. This was the original humble Airport Store that was across from the St. Petersburg Clearwater Airport. But boy have they revamped! One constant here their Traditional Cuban Sandwich (served the same way for longer than I've been alive...and I'm old). But they added their Mexican twist, so yes u can get your fix of tacos (al pastor, bistec, or chicken). I just left this place and had a large traditional Cuban, an empanada, and 2 tacos, and didn't even spend $15!!!!! (Theres proof!) The crispy buttery crust of the sandwich took me back. I'm officially now a regular. Thank you guys for not closing when your store got demolished to make for "progress". Hope you continue to serve your affordable delicacies for years to come. But why are you still reading this...??? Save your trip to McDs and get...
Read moreHeard so much hype from this place. I’m a foodie. Had to try it. Ordered a large Cuban sandwich and one chicken and one beef empanada. First of all their Cuban comes WITHOUT pork, has Mayo, mustard, pickles, tomatoes, cheese, salami, and ham. Ok that’s strange! They were very light on all toppings including the meats . Next we have the chicken empanada. Just shredded chicken inside, not much flavor or seasoning. Next we have the beef empanada, mostly potatoes and some ground beef. . Either y’all are high amd just got munchies or y’all don’t get out much. Paid $15 for the above order. Today was my first and Last time at this spot. People seem nice there. You can’t really mess up a Cuban or empanadas if that’s what your known. for and you did. Big time. If you like Cubans and wanna know what it’s suppose to taste like , try Bella’s Bagels on central. They are my personal favorite. You’re...
