Fosters Freeze — Restaurant in Pinole

After chemotherapy, I asked my daughter to stop at Fosters Freeze for Ice Cream only since the registered nurse had already given me a Turkey sandwich for lunch. And, since my daughter hadn't had lunch yet, she ordered a hamburger with fries to go even though inside and outside seating was available. By the time my daughter's order was ready, I was almost done eating my delicious vanilla ice cream. As you will see in the photo, it's closer to a medium rather than a small size. When my daughter got into the car with her order, she told me to dip the French fries in the ice cream, so I tried it and found that it didn't taste bad. The fries were nice and hot and together we finished eating them before getting home. She enjoyed her burger very much. The person at the window at Fosters Freeze prepared the burger and fries very quickly. This Fosters Freeze in Pinole and the one in Berkeley are unfortunately the only ones left. There used to be one in San Pablo where I'd go to for lunch and afterward spent some time reading there. I knew the owner, who wanted to sell the business because she was planning to move to Canada. We arrived over 30 minutes before closing. After the person in front of us ordered the employee left the window for almost 5 minutes. As I turned to leave, they reappeared at the window. I tried to order only to be told that they just stopped serving food. We decided to get ice cream there was NO hot fudge on top of my ice cream and very little carmel on my husband's, the blizzard was ok. When I went back and asked for some hot fudge the guy asked someone else to "go deal with her"-. I said really? Deal with her? He ignored me, another person walked over to him refusing to acknowledge me or the people waiting in line to order. By the time I got help and showed them my problem they did add hot fudge but by that time my ice cream was over 1/2 melted. She left the window area and still nobody helped the people waiting to order. Maybe asking to order 15 or 30 or in my case 40 minutes prior to closing is unreasonable in their eyes. Other Foster Freeze locations honor their menu right up to closing, and don't leave people waiting to order. Definitely not worth the...

I've been coming to the Pinole location weekly for awhile, because of the Managers exceptional customer service! Always friendly, always smiling. But lately the newer employees have been so rude, and today I see why, the owner, the lady is very rude! I had a accident I spilled a drink on the counter, not a single employee came out to clean the spill, instead they tossed towels on the counter for me to clean, another customer helped me clean, when the employee finally came with a mop she just stood there starring, the other customer took the mop from her and mopped up the mess himself. The customer looked at me and said "you sure did make a mess" and the owner agreed!! As I sit here writing this review, I'm watching the owner arguing with a couple over their order smh.
