Going through a banh mi phase has gotten me searching everywhere for my next banh mi fix. When it comes to the Hercules to Richmond area, banh mi sandwiches seem far and in between. Then I found B T Sandwich.
Due to my busy schedule by the time I'm ready for a banh mi sandwich this place is closed. T___T Then one day I had to run an errand around the area and I landed here. It's such a small shop; they're only dining area was a counter and 3 stools. All I wanted was a banh mi, however I had cash and the minimum for the use of the credit card was $10; which I later found out you can use your card under the $10 limit but will be charged 75 cents. Wish I knew that sooner but I say go big or go home and I wasn't planning to go home without that banh mi.
I ordered a bbq pork banh mi with a chicken and rice entree which came out to be ($14). For the price and how much food felt like a steal.^O^
Felt like a steal and then I felt I was stolen from, a tad bit. The banh mi pickled veggies were not as crisp and fresh compared to others and it felt more baguette than fillings. The quality of the bbq pork was notable. Not as notable as the chicken and rice entree. Even though it was delicious and the picture of this entree looked promising it is deceptive.
It was two huge cups of rice with a 1/4 of an inch thick of chicken, thinly slice so to speak. There I was trying to ration out the chicken as much as possible so I am not left stuck with a huge amount of rice. Don't get me wrong, I love rice however if I'm paying almost $9 for this entree I better have a good portion of protein. Even though the chicken was thin it had flavor and the sauce which came with the chicken was the real winner in this story.
For a whole in the wall place in the quiet part of Pinole this place is a-okay in my book. Would I go back here again? Probably not because of the portion sizes, even though the price is right, and even though their banh mi was satisfying hunger wise, the flavor profile was subtle. Oh! If you need to know how my service was, it was great because the two ladies there make you feel like home. Still it's a 3 start for the food itself and a 3...
Read moreThis place is easily missed if you don't know and aren't looking for it. Looks like a hole in the wall spot but don't let it fool you. The food is fresh & tasty. I rated this place as a 4 star because once my food wasn't as good as it usually is. I don't know what went wrong but I hardly had any meat on my sandwich and the bread tasted stale. The customer service from the 2 ladies who normally make the food is awesome. I have a small baby and they even offered to bring my food out to me in the car. Sometimes if you call ahead of time during rush hour you could be waiting for a very long time. Check this place out. They also make yummy...
Read moreIf you want a good Bahn Mi in the Bay Area, go here. Curry level 3 was a bit much for me, I would actually go with a 1 next time. Half way through my sandwich I could really feel the heat but a tasty heat, so tasty I could not stop eating. They make their food to order so be patient, its worth it. Got the two Chicken and one Chicken Curry. I am a sucker for the peanut sauce, lol. Instagram...
