Update and edit: Approaching a guest is perfectly acceptable—it’s how it was done, and she did ask us to leave. He was not in front of or near the kitchen. At no point did a manager approach anyone to ask that the child be kept near the table. This response from the owner appears more focused on saving face than addressing the core issue. They’ve wrapped their message in polite language to make Kristy seem respectful, which was absolutely not the case. The real issue here is the blatant disrespect shown by Kristy, and the fact that it was called out is what seems to have upset them.
Safety should absolutely be a priority for any restaurant, but so should customer service and professionalism. If Kristy had approached our table, introduced herself, and calmly explained any safety concerns, none of this would have ever been shared. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened. I hope they have learned from this experience. ————————-
We were excited to check out Crooked Handle Brewing Co in Piqua. The bartenders were great, and the food was excellent. We thought it was a family-friendly place and were enjoying a fun evening out while I was in town visiting family.
Things took an unfortunate turn when a woman wearing bunny ears approached our table and told us we needed to leave because “children can’t dance.” When I asked if she worked there, she said she owned the place, then proceeded to argue with my sister about why her kids should be in bed at 9 PM—on a Thursday night. She had been drinking with a group and honestly seemed like she may have had a bit too much, which might explain the bizarre behavior. After confronting us, she left the room and didn’t return for about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, other patrons were enjoying the moment, even dancing with the 2-year-old and laughing with us. It felt completely out of place and unnecessarily hostile.
Before we left, I asked two of the staff what her name was—Christy. I asked if she worked there, and they confirmed she’s part owner with her husband. I also asked if she was nice, and the response was telling: “She’s hard to work for and not easy to impress.” Sounds like she treats her staff the same way she treats her guests.
It’s unfortunate, because everything else about the evening had been great. But based on this experience, we definitely won’t...
Read moreI recently visited Kristy Moore's establishment and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. While I understand that every business has its policies, the way they are communicated is crucial, and on this occasion, it fell short.
As we were enjoying our time, my two-year-old son, naturally filled with energy, started dancing around our table. The bar was empty, and it was a light-hearted moment for our family. However, Kristy Moore approached us and, instead of addressing the situation with understanding or kindness, she was quite rude. She firmly told us that our child was not allowed to dance in her bar, and should be in bed which was surprising given the circumstances.
It's important for business owners to create a welcoming and family-friendly environment, especially in a setting where customers should feel relaxed. Instead, her harsh demeanor and lack of empathy left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. A simple reminder of house rules could have been handled with a smile rather than hostility.
Overall, I would not recommend visiting Kristy Moore's bar if you're looking for a friendly and accommodating atmosphere. It's a shame because the location has potential, but the unprofessional behavior of the owner significantly detracts from the experience. I hope that in the future, Kristy learns to treat her customers with the respect and understanding...
Read morePros Food was good It's a vibe. locals go here large tables There is a large paviollionnarea that plays shows There is outdoor seating The bus guy was doing a good job keeping tables clear The little town this is in, is so cute.
Cons It's a order at the bar thing so when we needed a refill we had to wait in a long line. The girls at the bar are working way above their pay, they are answering phones, getting drinks, taking orders, wiping tables.. they could barley focus on taking my order they where running around everywhere, they either need more staff or need to pay the girls more. . They need waitresses My lemonade was not good. There are people that work there standing around right when u walk in to the right watching the girls at the bar do everything. The nacho meat was like burnt kinda and was a 5.00 uncharged but the southwest egg rolls where amazing. we had to park across the street to get there
This is my honest review. I would go back again but I would hope they establish a better system for ordering food and get those poor girls at the...
